No one here seems to care about Opel. At least I do. Not much, but I still do care.

I'm surprised, this section is so empty.

Seriously, Opels aren't all that bad. They usually made some very boring cars in the past, but I guess, they finally started to make some decent stuff, like that beautiful new Astra, new Zafira, Speedster and the funky new Tigra.

I like the new ones. But I'm pretty much hated the old ones, except the Lotus Omega, Senator, and even the Omega B.

The rest I either didn't care or I simply hated it.

I have a 2003 Vauxhall Vectra. Not the most exciting car, but it does the job quite well. And mine has the 3.2 V6 engine with a manual gearbox. It's quite fun to drive.

I guess, the reason why no one here cares about Opels. It' because they are from GM. And as I'm sure you very well know, GM IS THE WORST CAR COMPANY IN THE ENTIRE WORLD.

Seriously, they truly suck. What they are doing with Saab is just lamentable.

GM sucks. Opel doesn't suck too much.

Feel free to say what you think about Opel. ;)

i saw a few worth posting but dont really want to bother since there is very little following.

A while back I bought a new Opel Kadett (I've owned three Opels) which had an inherent mechanical defect that the local agents couldn't / wouldn't repair. The then representitives of GM in SA at the time closed off the issue by saying "no further correspondence into this matter shall be entered into" or such like. They screwed me over and I thought to damn Opel and GM to oblivion. It's working.

My family had an Opel Ascona a lot time ago. Not bad in reliability but the hadling was so bad that i almost was killed one day after loosing control and hitting a pole. Of course the car was totaled.
Nowadays Opels have very bad reliability. I have friends that own many models and every single one had at least one serious damage and many minor ones (which the dealers fail to fix for reasons beyond my understanding).

Opel=GM , GM+Ford=the worst car companies in the world. That sums it up. :D

The stunning Daewoo Nexia was based on the Opel Kadett. For their fortunate owners, a most memorable car...I'm sure.

These Korean beauties were sold in some markets as the Pontiac Le Mans.

Look, new cars from Opel are a definate improvement. Heck they even can even be described as beautiful, funky, cool.

But really german car forums like this are usualy a MB vs. BMW, now turned into
MB vs. BMW vs. Audi.
The rest is the rest.
I feel sorry for the Opel forum.

Yeah, sometimes even VW finds it hard to get some love over here. MB and BMW and to a lesser extent Audi dominate this place. Porsche is almost universally loved but are a brand apart, due to its price and their cars being rarer.

Opel is a brand apart perhaps due to its cars being much less rare, and never really even pretending to have luxury pretensions. Who would go around saying that they like Hyundais? (no offense if you do :D) But many people buy them, and I would say that it's not always because they're forced to. It's just that it's often the best choice, for that person.

IMO, same with Opel. I have no real previous experience with them, as in generations ago, but our family has had (Holden badged versions, since in Australia there is no Opel) a TS Astra, a Zafira (before the new, current larger one) and we currently have a ZC Vectra 2.2, auto. I like the car for what it is. We haven't had any major, and barely any minor (if that), problems with it, for what that's worth in relation to claims of reliability. The interior has an ambience that still speaks of Europe and not Japan or Korea, which I appreciate.

Opel might not be the most aspirational brand, but I don't reckon it can be so bad to attract the antipathy sometimes shown it. Their newer cars have some sort of style of their own, at least.
