yesterday just as i got in the s60 and put my briefcase on the passenger's seat i noticed something. and there it was. chewing gum on the seat.

So please tell me what do i need to do to remove it without damaging the seat? that part of the seat is not leather, just clothe!

PS. i just can't figure how it got there. probably my gf who was seating there carried the gum on her jeans without knowing it... stupid girls....

In the US there are cleaners called "Goof Off" or "Goo Gone" and many similar products. They work great for this type of problem. Brake cleaner would work too, but test it on an unconspicuous area of fabric first.

Put some ice cubes in a plastic bag, and put the bag on the gum - wait that gum frozes / hardens then just peel it away. It works.

thanks boys. I think i will go with Eni's solution since i don't have a steamer!

I think the cold idea is that the gum becomes less pliant and gummy when it's cold - so it should break off more easily. See what you can do that way before going the other ways, IMO. It should be the least destructive..
