***My Pimp Ride***

Nice... moving to my car owners gallery forum.

Very nice.

From the looks of it you have kept it in good condition. Haven't seen the interior though.

Thanks. I just wanted to put the new link to the new album here. I've shown this thing quite a lot around here. Anyway, here's the interior. :)

Love it. The W126 and W140 bring back lots of childhood memory for me :D
I always liked the sound of the W126 when it's running. You know, that buzzing sound coming from the back somewhere. I've always wondered what it is, do you know Chris?

Wow that is beautiful!

Don't you just sometimes love the simplicty and the beauty of the old classics?

"Sadly" there's no buzzing sound from the rear on mine. :D

The only thing that makes that noise is the rear suspension after the car has been sitting for a couple of months. :usa7uh:

I am serious when I tell you this. This car looks brand new!

I mean it is in superb condition.

Wow.... lovely car their Christian, very nicely kept in peak condition.

One thing I noticed is how similar the interior layout is to modern day Audi's... interesting.

..

Either way.... :usa7uh: to your little beauty.

Wow, your car is in really good shape to be an 85' Wimmer, cool. How much did you purchase it for if you don't mind me asking?

hey nice car man, just one question, why is there an orange zone between 50 and 60km/h on the speedo ?

Thanks! I'll post some pictures soon of when the car was at the Mercedes-Benz dealership during the premiering of the new W221 S-Class. It was next to a Ponton Mercedes and a W108 280SEL 3.5! Mercedes cleaned my car and put in new spare parts and fixed the interior - ALL FOR FREE! That was my reward for working for them over the summer. :eusa_danc :usa7uh:

Thanks. :)

My dad gave it to me after we got the E320 in 2002. My dad bought the 300SE second hand in 1986 after a lawyer had bought the car and kept it for a short time. Cars loose the most value in the first year so I am guessing it was a good deal. Also, this car is a poverty spec model as you can see. The only options the first owner ticked were automatic transmission, sunroof and electric windows for the front doors only (rear doors have manually roll-down windows). ;)

I've been toying with the idea of selling it but I won't because we kept this baby in tip-top shape and whoever will buy it will in all likelyhood not be an enthusiast but someone who's just looking for a cheap buy. :eusa_doh:

Yep, that's typical of 1970s and 1980s and early '90s MB. In Germany, crash tests have shown that at 50 km/h, there's enough force to throw you out of the car if you're not wearing seatbelts. Hence that orange zone serves as a warning. 50 km/h is also the speed limit in most cities and towns and the orange zone therefore serves another purpose, to remind you to stay within the limit. :)

There's also a "I, II, III" labelling at various speeds which indicates the top speed of individual gears of the automatic transmission. ;)

thanks for the reply cawimmer430, another mystry solved

Still looks in top condition!

What car do you drive currently?

My dad's '89 500SL or my family's '02 E320 (W211). :)
