Flashback in time to 1986 and Mercedes were making significant changes to its car line with new models such as the W124 and the baby Benz W201 190-series.

The car that probably put Mercedes in the high performance saloon category is this, the legendary 190E 2.3-16, the car that inspired BMW to launch the E30 M3.

Great Motorweek Roadtest, although this US spec version is considerably less powerful (167hp compared to 182hp (185PS)) than the European version.
