Happy new year to everyone here, and to their their families and friends !

I thought should share a few photos I took at the Sydney New Year Fireworks. Every year, over a million people cram into the areas surrounding the Sydney Harbor bridge, to view the main attraction, the fireworks on the bridge itself, however there are hundreds of thousands more people viewing the other fireworks displays positioned at various locations along the Parramatta river, running across Sydney.

This year I chose to fight the crowd and managed to find a spot close to the bridge. I have to say though the firework display looks more spectacular on TV than in person because there are simply too much smoke, by the end of it you can barely see anything. I was probably too close to it, it will be much better if I view it from a location further away.

and the smoke grows thicker and thicker.

The crowd started the hour long walk back to the main train station, through the lingering blanket of smoke.

Thanks mate! If they don't mind paying for the airfare, it is fantastic way to spend NYE, with fine weather, great food and spectacular views along with the friendly atmosphere. I don't think there is a better location (if you find the good spot) for these type of large scale firework display.

2018 feels a bit tiring after a long day of walking, definitely need my sleep to refresh lol.

Sydney does New Year fireworks celebrations about as good as it gets anywhere in the world.

Happy New Year guys.

Wicked! I watched the Sydney fireworks on TV. Maybe I should brave it once year and watch the London fireworks sitting by the river. However I fear it similar to a Silverstone GP which is sometimes best watched from the couch.

Thanks Luw, I think it is worth the trip once every two years or so, just to experience it. I realize how lucky we are to have such an event so close to where I live. so why not.

btw I think you accidentally click the dislike button?
