Mirage77 checks out the 335i

Good review mate. But if I'm not mistaken you said that the 335 costs USD135K. Are you serious? It costs $153,000? that's amazing. Why is that by the way?

Yeah, no joke NR... We have a very high import tax (110% of the value of the car, if I'm not mistaken...). So that makes the car already twice as expensive as it should be. On top of that, there is only one BMW dealer in Singapore (Performance Motors) which has a "monopoly" of sorts... If you want to buy a BMW from someone else, your warranty may be void, and you may not get the colour combination you want.

Plus we need to have an ownership license that allows us to own our cars for 10 years, after which we'd have to renew the license. This license used to be as expensive as US50k... It has since dropped to US5-7k.

I forgot if I missed out anything else.

Holy crap...that's an ass load of taxes. WOW! So is there some sort of minimum wage or something in singapore because it seems like a very expensive place to live.

Nope. No minimum wages but we do get one of the lowest income and corporate tax rates in the world: 18% and 20% respectively. ;)

It only appears expensive to live in because the cars are expensive - the government just doesn't want us to buy cars, because we're already overcrowding. :D Stuff like food, clothing and necessities are cheap, you can get a steak for US10.

That doesn't sound too bad then. My uncles (dad's friends) are Singaporean of Indian descent, but they've been in the US for so long that they don't know how things are there now adays. :t-cheers:
