Mini announces prices for all-new 2008 Clubman
Whitby, Ontario - Mini Canada has announced that the all-new Cooper Clubman will have a starting price of $26,400, while the Cooper S Clubman will start at $31,500. The new models will go on sale February 13, 2008 and expand the Mini line-up to a total of seven models.
The Cooper Clubman shares its 1.6-litre four-cylinder engine with the Mini Cooper, producing 118 hp and 114 lb-ft of torque; the Cooper S Clubman shares its turbocharged 1.6-litre four-cylinder with the Cooper S, making 172 hp and 192 lb-ft of torque. With a six-speed manual transmission, the Cooper Clubman will qualify for the federal government's $1,000 ecoAUTO rebate for its fuel economy rating of 5.3 L/100 km.
The five-door Clubman is based on vintage "shooting brake" models, the Morris Mini Traveller, Austin Mini Countryman and Mini Clubman Estate of the 1960s. It features a lengthened roofline over all three pillars and two rear-opening split doors with exterior hinging mechanisms. A rear-hinged "Clubdoor" on the rear passenger side opens with the front passenger door for increased access to the rear seat.
The Clubman is 24 cm longer than the Mini Cooper and offers eight cm of extended wheelbase, along with an increased luggage compartment capacity of 260 litres, increasing to 930 litres with the rear seat folded.
