Mercedes E63 Second Drive (5TH Gear)

Read the reviews and unfortunately seems to be more of the same in comparisoin w/ what I remember reading about the old E55 AMG. Not only that but confirms my belief about AMG, straight line rocket ships not for flying around corners where they'll most often "crash". Besides, that's the whole point of this car, not to be a track star but a celebrity, a car to be seen going fast in down the boulevard, and a car to be parked in front of Barneys New York at the bottom of the staircase in valet. Schmoozy/Jazzy kinda car.

I cant say I noticed it 5th gear for being critical about MB but I know TopGear love MB and dislike BMw most of the times. Face it, everyone on the world dont like MB and BMW, believe it or not, they arent perfect.

Top gear might be negative or deslike BMW design , but never BS about facts Ill tell you that much ..... 5th gear is just stupid in my dictionary .....For god sakes the name even sounds stupid , you know you got 7 gears nowadays ....

I strongly disagree, I can never take what TG says and they arent Gods with knowledge, its all about entertainment. Period. Its sportauto for me and not much else matters, especially not TV-shows.

This test of E63 wasnt done by those three people working on the TV-show. And certainly not by Tiff who is the only guy I trust on the show.

why do you take these matters to heart?? that's the craziest part of it all, before I thought you were coming after me in the CLK63 thread. It's a matter of opinion, but if you read the same thing over and over again from more than one source, then there is more than likely truth to whatever is being said. And yes, I am serious.

I totally disagree with you !! You see , usually every member here has backup when making a statement , but what are u trying to say Deutsch ? The only slightly bad source we've seen of the E63 is 5th gear , now I see you are saying (READING THE SAME THING OVER AND OVER AGAIN !!) , what has been said so far ? The other thread gave us a very positive report from all angles , I dont see the other thread as active as this one .....

And as for the CLK63 , we havent seen a bad source from any category yet , and you still say (THEY ARE ALL ABOUT STRAIGHT LINE) ...

I must say you are right Just Me ....... But it's not because of the M5 , Deutsch says that lots of sources say the same thing about the E63 , perhaps you can help making that clear to me just_me .....

"backup"? You've already seen it, twice. The other review (unamed source as posted by Just_Me) said the same exact thing, the E63 is NOT a sports car but a luxury sedan with sporting aspirations in the way it drives (acceleration, etc.), but most certaintly not the way it handles. I understand you love the car and even more so MB in general, but you cannot allow yourself to become tangled in enchantment, that AMG can do no wrong and makes true fun to drive sports cars. They don't, plain and simple. I don't care who says what, from where. I know the differece first hand. Sure, no one here has driven this car or any of the other "63" AMG models, but I've driven other Benz AMG models that more than likely will have a very close relation in the way of the overall driving experience to the new car. Besides that it's a matter of opinion, which is entirely subjective. I believe, every single person here is entitled to what they believe in, liike it or not, agree or disagree.

No , he is not talking about the 63s , he is talking about the CLS55 ..... As a matter of fact Deutsch , I always thought the AMg models werent that compettitive around a track , but untill I traded my E55 for the CLS55 ..... I was so surprised , that's where I have all the confidence in the 63s upcoming ...

There are many cars that are fast around a track. Both SL55 and M5 is faster than Porsche 996 Carrera around Nordschlife. But it doesnt mean SL55 or M5 is fun or offer the same feelings as a Carrera to drive around in the bends. A fast laptime doesnt mean its a good tool to use when driving around a track.

Well you got the wrong type of MB fan ill tell you that much , I would love to drive my car arround a track with a heart beat , I love performance tracks and I wish there was one close by where I live ...

You see Just_me , since MB seems to aim on more than one type of buyer , therefor you have different types of fanatics , my uncle HASSAN is a Mercedes Benz lover , but he will never buy a car that's tagged AMG .... He first started off with a 420 SEL , then he bought a 300E back in 93 , then he bought a 94 320 E (FL of 300E) Sports Line , then he got himself a big body Benz 96 500 SEL , then he bought a W220 S320 , and finally right now he has a W211 E320 and is thinking of changing for w221 S350 ...... Anyway , my point is , he never even considered buying an AMG , all he cared about was luxury and silent rush ....
