Mercedes-Benz to buy Aston Martin?

What about Porsches, especially 911. They'll be fine no matter what :usa7uh:

Well first IMO i think that AM case is different from Porsche case,AM depends mainly on the beauty of the design which at some point becomes boring if not redesigned which is now i hope but for porsche depends on the engines and driving fun which is far superior to AM.

IMO i'm getting tired also of Porsche, whenever i see one in the streets i even don't care to look at it anymore, freshment is required these days.

Funny...When I see a Porsche 911 on the streets, I can't help looking at it. Only the 996 have not a great effect, all the others are absolutely attracting my eyes. And of course a Cayenne will act as a repulsive...

The 997 looks fabulous and, for me, does not need any change from a design PoV. I just love them. Perfection.

The AM looks maybe even better, but don't attract me the way a 911 does.
AM sure begins to run out of ideas, the Rapide does not look promising at all, and technicallywise AM is not on the same level as MB. But it has an image, and a look...

Yeah but only if MB lets AM alone and not start dictating things in term of design.

I think AM is so succesful now only because (by some miracle) Ford didn't interfere. So AM is in a bubble, designing great cars.
I completely agree. I would love to see Aston finally have the kind of stability a company like Daimler would give it ...but more than anything, I would hate to see Mercedes styling influences on Aston. Aston's current styling is clean and well-resolved (like Audi's), Mercedes' styling has become a bit of a mess. BMW design is messy (at times) too, but at least there is a clear philosophy behind it.
