It's not really though. BMW has at various points had the same "interior style" all the way through it's lineup. And you're going to see it again when the panoramic idrive system sets the tone for future debuts. I've willingly bought multiple BMWs and noticed it, and didn't complain about it either. It was familiar.

You'd be hard pressed to tell which one is the 7-series and which one is the 5-series at first glance.

3-series vs. X5. These all seem to be of the same interior style. Who cares? With the dizzying amount of models these brands have for sale, you're going to see the style a lot. I don't think this is a uniquely MB thing at all.

Well they better do something different with the NK interiors because I don’t want to see the same design over and over again. Curious how they’re gonna adapt that in the 7er. It’ll either look great or straight up sh*t.

What really needs to be considered is how different NK-shaped cabins can be. It will be interesting to see.

So what? No one is talking about the previous generation models, and neither saying those were great decisions. G11 basically looked like a more premium 5-Series, both inside and out, which is not an acceptable thing for a 7er. That’s the main reason why it got drastically different from the other models and basically became a budget Rolls-Royce Ghost. Same applies to the 3er and 5er too. F30 had a very dated looking interior, especially compared to the W205.
2015-2019 was the golden era for the Mercedes’ design. There’s a reason why they were the leader of that time period. It all went downhill afterwards. And unfortunately looking at the past and bringing up old stuff doesn’t change the current situation.

So this discussion was unnecessary.

The NK interiors are all gonna have the lozenge central screen and not-HUD panoramic HUD.

It makes no sense to add a surround if they were gonna make it body colored anyways. I think it will be black, but we’ll see.

Great to see the new wood panel on the top of the doors (looking similar to the trim in W222) and also the armrest is now also got wood trim and center console. My guess that old panel on the door and switches is just an afterthought add on and will be replaced by new movable seat controls and metal buttons for the seat heating/cooling.

There was a picture posted earlier this year of the super or hyperscreen in the MOPF S-class and it looks different to other models. The center screen appears to be vertical and seperate from the driver and passenger screens

The MB world is healing in some respects. I was initially expecting the Mopf to be a hyperscreen/piano black smudge mess x2, but we are seeing premium touch points and physical buttons making a return to primary driver interface areas (infotainment aside).

Great to see the new trim on the centre tunnel and doors. It appears from the curvature of the wood on the door cards, the trim will blend/form into the side of the dash.

They are probably hiding new button designs under the old seat button housing.

It appears that while we are definitely getting a full screen dash, there will also be reasonable design changes with switchgear and trim upgrades to add to the traditional luxury feel.

I am happy Mercedes has listened to criticism and gone ahead to make decent improvements to their interiors and eliminate the dreaded shiny black piano trim in the S-class. I am starting to have a glimpse of hope for future models.

It can be applauded that M-B has apparently seriously addressed the abundant criticism directed at the fit, finish and material quality of its interiors. The aspect of innovative engineering and technologies is without reproach. Exterior design (or better said, some of the details), however, remains an issue pertaining to certain model lines. In this context, the upcoming C- and E-Class EQ sedans will be crucial vehicles.

All changes look good. Now the race will be to see which company realises first that passengers travel with their own screens and do not need a silly screen on their side of the car.
