A gentle reply

It was only two days ago when Jaguar released an ad in which they mocked Mercedes-Benz's Magic Body Control commercial and now the German marque has released a rather gentle reply.

Mercedes-Benz's marketing department quickly came up with a response to the "Jaguar vs. Chicken" ad. They say "cat-like reflexes aren't fast enough" especially when it comes to safely stopping the car which is why the PRE-SAFE brake system offered by Mercedes-Benz is necessary in extreme situations, otherwise you will likely end up hitting the jaguar as suggested in the photo published on Facebook.

Jaguar mocks Mercedes-Benz’s chicken ad for Magic Body Control

They prefer cat-like reflexes
Jaguar's marketing department has come up with a rather clever commercial in which they make fun of Mercedes-Benz's Magic Body Control ad.

Towards the end of September, German marque Mercedes-Benz introduced a commercial showcasing the benefits of having Magic Body Control on the 2014 S-Class. The ad was highly appraised for its ingenuity but it seems Jaguar has a different opinion.

Their "Jaguar vs Chicken" ad makes fun of Mercedes' clip as the chicken ends up eaten by a jaguar. The British automaker says that instead of Magic Body Control they prefer "cat-like reflexes" although they don't point out a specific model from Jaguar's range.

Hopefully, this won't be the end of the story and Mercedes-Benz will strike back.

Awesome. We need a bit of banter between automaker every now and then.

Not sure what Jaguar is trying to do, their range of cars have been comprehensively overwhelmed by MB.

I think Jaguar had all the rights to make fun of S class. I get the point of chicken commercial, but it was a silly move by Mercedes to compare their flagship and one of the most advanced technologies on a road to a chicken...

"Pre-safe" brake?. Let me guess a German came up with that retort? :D

Suspect the same folks who came up with the MBC ad are also in charge of PRE-SAFE promotion? :)

Pre-Safe may be an idea from an eight-year old daughter, inspired by a Mickey Mouse cat? :)

Mercedes-Benz Pre-Safe Turns 15, Doesn't Get Party

Now available in no less than 16 different model series right across the entire Mercedes-Benz model range, the Pre-Safe active safety system will soon turning 15 years since it was first thought of in terms of series-production development.

According to a popular Mercedes-Benz insider myth that eventually turned out to be true, the first idea for the Pre-Safe system came when one of the engineers in charge of active safety asked his eight-year old daughter how she would illustrate the fact that every living being reacts reflexively to sudden dangers.

His daughter apparently simply handed him a Mickey Mouse comic book, where one page showed a drawing of a cat dropping to its feet, symbolizing how the animal automatically prepares its body position and posture before hitting the ground for a better landing.

That, along with the fact that Mercedes-Benz has almost since forever been using real world crashes data to make their cars safer has triggered the development of Pre-Safe.

First introduced in its most basic form in 2002, on the Mercedes-Benz S-Class W220 facelift, Pre-Safe has since evolved into a number adjacent systems, which are all now slowly gathering under the Intelligent Drive umbrella.

Compared to 2012, Pre-Safe can currently take preventive safety measures in up to 13 potentially hazardous accident scenarios, including the detection of pedestrians or impending rear-end collisions.

Brought first by the E-Class W212 facelift and the new S-Class W222, Pre-Safe Plus can flash the rear hazard warning lights and locks the brakes if the vehicle is stationary and a non-avoidable rear impact is incoming.

Pre-Safe Impulse, on the other hand, extends the protective function of the front seat belts, with the front occupants being pulled away from the direction of the impact just before it happens. More features of the system are on the way in the upcoming years, with the new E-Class W213 to sport quite a few of them in the further developed Intelligent Drive.
