I don't think this has been posted here in its entirety. It's a very interesting read especially given that McLaren just doubled its sales this year.

Another sales record for Woking-based McLaren Automotive after managing to deliver an impressive 3,286 cars. That’s a whopping increase of 99.6 percent from 2015 when sales stood at 1,654 units. The British niche marque managed to boost its sales numbers all over the world, especially in North America where a 1,139 vehicles were sold, representing a hike of 106 percent compared to the previous year. North America continued to be the company’s single largest market in 2016, but Europe is closing in with 996 cars or 153 percent more than a year before.

McLaren is enjoying a significant sales hike also in the Asia Pacific region, which grew by 90 percent. The same thing can be said about the newly combined Middle East, Africa and Central and South America region where McLaren shifted 69 percent more cars than before. As for China, a total of 228 cars were sold in the People’s Republic.

After delivering car number 10,000 last year, 2017 is shaping up to be another great year for the brand taking into account in only a couple of months it will take the wraps off the first model from the second-generation Super Series. Set to replace the 650S, the new model will be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show on March 7 and will go on sale shortly thereafter.

Codenamed “P14,” the new McLaren is only the tip of the iceberg as far as new models are concerned, with the company’s Track22 business plan promising no less than 15 all-new cars or derivatives scheduled to be launched until 2022 as part of a £1 billion investment. At least half of them are going to employ hybrid tech by the end of the established period, while a pure electric powertrain for a concept is also on the agenda and might end up powering a model from the Ultimate Series. An F1 spiritual successor with a three-seat layout is also in the works and will come out in 2019.

McLAREN AUTOMOTIVE LAUNCHES SIX-YEAR INVESTMENT PROGRAMME IN FUTURE PRODUCTS AND TECHNOLOGY

  • Six-year ‘Track22’ Business Plan announced
  • £1 billion investment in Research and Development over six-years of plan
  • 15 all-new cars or derivatives under development
  • At least 50 percent of McLaren cars to feature hybrid technology by 2022
  • Fully-electric prototype in the Ultimate Series under evaluation
Just over six years after the company was formed, McLaren Automotive has announced details of its Track22 Business Plan, taking it through the next six years through to 2022.

Maintaining a spotlight on the development of the world best drivers’ cars, McLaren Automotive will continue to focus purely on the development of two-seater sports and supercars. At the heart of the Business Plan is a commitment to its industry-leading 20-25 percent of turnover invested in Research and Development for future products and technology. Over the six-year Business Plan period, this represents an investment of £1,000,000,000 and will lead to the launch of 15 all-new cars or derivatives.

The launch of the new 570GT at the Geneva Motor Show represents the culmination of new model introductions for 2016. McLaren also confirmed the addition of a Spider derivative within its Sports Series family in 2017. Following the positive reception of the 675LT Coupé and Spider models, which sold out in a matter of weeks, McLaren has also announced that ‘LT’ will become a track-focused sub-brand with further models in the future.

Subsequent to the global success of the petrol-electric hybrid-powered McLaren P1TM, McLaren Automotive has confirmed that at least 50 percent of its cars will feature hybrid technology by the end of the Business Plan period. Research engineers at the McLaren Technology Centre in Woking, England, are also in the early prototype stages of the development of a fully-electric powertrain to evaluate its possible use in a future generation of an Ultimate Series car.

Mike Flewitt, Chief Executive Officer of McLaren Automotive commented: ‘Since its inception, McLaren Automotive has launched world-class products and this has been made possible by continuous investment in our future. The launch of our new six-year Business Plan, named Track22 because I believe that we are on track to a very exciting and successful future, scopes our future investments and development strategy up until 2022. This will see us launch 15 all-new cars or derivatives within our existing Sports Series, Super Series and Ultimate Series families. We will also develop an all-new engine architecture that will debut towards the end of the Business Plan period.

‘Our next hybrid vehicle will launch towards the latter part of our six year plan, and we will see at least 50 percent featuring hybrid technology by 2022. Hybridisation has obvious CO2 and fuel consumption advantages but for us, it is all about delivering the performance and enjoyment of a McLaren. But we won’t stop there. Our engineers have even started work on a one-off prototype to evaluate the possible benefits of a fully-electric powertrain in an Ultimate Series car; such is the pace of development.

‘Above all, this Business Plan confirms that McLaren Automotive will remain proudly and fiercely independent by continuing to build the world’s finest two-seater sports and supercars, hand-crafted by our team in Woking, England.’

TRACK22 - THE ROAD TO 2022

As well as unveiling the new 570GT at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show, McLaren Automotive CEO Mike Flewitt also used the occasion to make some important announcements about the future of the company more broadly.

‘We’ve been in business now as a company for six years, and we’ve taken a lot of time to look out into the future,’ Mike explained, standing on McLaren’s new, larger show stand. ‘We’ve redefined our business plan for the coming six years, taking us out to 2022. We’ve called it ‘Track22’ because it defines the track we’re on, into the future, and it’s a track that gives us a very profitable and sustainable business.’

Highlights of the Track22 plan include an investment of £1 billion into R&D over the coming six years, leading to the launch of 15 all-new cars or derivatives. Mike confirmed this investment will be self-funded.

McLaren will continue to focus purely on two-seater sports and supercars, and Mike revealed that a spider version of the Sports Series is already in the pipeline, to join the 570S and new 570GT. Standing alongside the McLaren 675LT Spider – which made its public debut at the show – he also said the LT badge will become a track-focused sub-brand for McLaren, with further models to come.

Finally, the plan encompasses new powertrains, with a fully electric system already in the prototype stages for evaluation in a possible future-generation Ultimate Series car. By 2022, the Track22 plan says that at least 50 per cent of McLaren cars will feature hybrid technology, following in the footsteps of the hugely successful petrol-electric McLaren P1™.

‘Above all, this Business Plan confirms that McLaren Automotive will remain proudly and fiercely independent by continuing to build the world’s finest two-seater sports and supercars, hand-crafted by our team in Woking, England.’ Mike concluded.
