M vs. RS vs. AMG tuning

Hello everyone,
Lately i've been getting into car tuning because of some friends in college. This is honestly something i was always against, but, after going on a ride in a good friend's jetta (i know, not that cool of a car, but here in Brazil it is one people desire like crazy!) with a aftermarket exhaust, i started changing my mind... There's even this crazy rich kid with an Audi S3 with ECU remap and Remus exhaust (The s3 alone is worth R$200k here, and the Remus exhaust? An extra R$12k... So yeah, tuning is not cheap around here, i cam only imagine what JDM folks spend on their turbos around here... Even GTI folks, that IS38 turbo sure doesnt come cheap!)
Well, with all that, i've came to a bit of a doubt... What is better for tuning? An AMG, BMW M or and Audi S or RS?
Right now, i think Audis, except the v8 models and the R8, and BMW M are the best ones... One because Need for Speed (No, really, the E46 was something... But im really talking about curent models!). The AMGs, for the simple reason that the engine is handbuilt, i think its not really cool to fuss with it! But, i might be terribly wrong! Its just that even tho i have come to accept car tuning, i just cant accept the idea of modding 8, 10, 12... cilinders and handbuilt engines! It just doesnt feel right! As for 4 bangers, 5 and 6 pots? As long as its not a Porsche and it is a sports car, go for it! Oh, also, for some reason, i would tune a m5 or m6 even with it being a v8, idk why these specific 8 cilinders i would mod, i just would!
So? Whats your guys call on this?

P.s. When i say mod, mainly I mean ECU, Intake, Downpipe, Full Exhaust, Turbo Swap (if possible), no crazy internal components and stuff...
