Saab Leaked photos: Facelift Saab 9-3

Saab Automobile AB was a car manufacturer founded in Sweden in 1945 when its parent company, Saab AB, began a project to design a small automobile. The first production model, the Saab 92, launched in 1949. The company filed for bankruptcy in 2011 and production stopped in 2014.

New vs old comparison

The new Saab 9-3 for 2008 is set to make its international debut at the Saab Festival in Trollhattan, Sweden, on Sunday June 10th, 2007. This will be 60 years to the day since the first Saab model was unveiled.

The 2008 Saab 9-3 will have an option for a new all-wheel-drive system, for which they've registered the name XWD. It's a new generation Haldex system. The car will also feature a new active stability control program.

The new MY2008 car will likely be available shortly after it's unveiling, but it's believed that the XWD versions of the car will not be available until later in 2007, most likely October or November.

There is also a new project in house called Black Turbo, which will bring the output to a rumoured maximum of between 290 and 320hp. Obviously this will also make use of the XWD system to put the power to the ground. This is believed to be available from March or April 2008 (oh, it's so hard to wait!).

There is also believed to be a twin-turbo diesel offering on the way for the European market. It's believed to be similar to the Opel Antara Concept engine which produced 212hp and 400Nm of torque.

The front looks awesome, but I'm not a big fan of those new rear lights, maybe I'll get used to them!!

I like the idea of the 320bhp version with AWD!

This is much better than the 9-5 F/L, but I still don't like those rear lights!

This is great but this is late. Saab is a wonderful brand but what GM did with it is just pathetic. If BMW want a swedish brand, they should buy saab and revive it. I feel an enourmous potential in it.

Wow, the sedan looks amazing, still a Volvo die hard but this is nice. Volvo needs to rush the new S60 already, they say it isn't due til '09 as a '10 model.

wow damn that front is off the richter..i love that
and thats the first time i say that about a saab..
the rear is okay..but i dont like those white rear lights..
they are to BILTEMA to me..

PS
Biltema.. is a large swedish store for third class car parts and stupid ricer stuff to put on your 500 euro car:D

Gasp, there is at least one light bulb burning at Saab. I agree with everyone that likes the front end, aggressive...aero looking for real. Now bring on the convertible. The wagon looks particularly sinister. They got rid of 2 things I've hated on Saabs for years, the black door handles and rub strips!! Whoopie.

Although the front looks good I'm not too sure I'm feeling the chrome/white&clear glass Saab has got going on, kind of ricey if you ask me. Also, the car has now lost some of its identity, looks far too similar to the 9-5

The front end styling is very nice, thank god they resist the temptation to give it the 9-5 treatement. There is one thing i dont' like about the front end, it is the bonnet shutline, it doesn't flow with the rest of the line, with that weird curve.

I really hope the rear lights don't look like that, it looks like those cheap $2 aftermarket tailights you can buy from China

Agreed. IMO it looks like the 9-5 with milder facelift.. The car now looks older than the pre-facelift version because of the 9-5 style grille and front lights. :thumbdown
