Most automobile enthusiasts know the story of Lamborghini. Out of sheer desire to prove old man Enzo Ferrari wrong, a tractor company’s owner known as Ferruccio Lamborghini made the 350 GTV, the first Lambo prototype design.

The rest is rust and stardust, as some Raging Bull fans might say. Just three years after the Italian manufacturer presented the GTV, the Miura came around and made everyone’s jaws drop.

Although the original design featured a glass engine cover, seating for three (McLaren F1, anyone?) and many other wacky details, the production version wasn’t a shabby ride either.

From ’66 to ’73, the Sant’Agata manufacturer was able to build a mere 764 units of the first mid-engined production car. Yup, it all started with the Lamborghini Miura and God bless the man who’s known as Marcello Gandini for the eyelash-inspired headlight surrounds. If you’re in the market for one of these babies, may we recommend you to go for an ultra rare SVJ?

More specifically, the one you can admire in the photo gallery below, which is one of five SVJs ever made. It’s so rare and desirable, the peeps from RM Auctions put an unbelievably hefty estimate on it: 2 to 2.6 million dollars, to be specific. Chassis [HASHTAG]#4892[/HASHTAG] is believed to be one of the best preserved examples of the breed, 4-liter V12 with four Weber carburetors and all.

Speaking of the oily bits, 385 horsepower for a road-going vehicle that looks like it came from outer space was a lot for 1971, the year that also gave us groovy albums like The Doors’ L.A. Woman and Marvin Gaye’s What’s Going On. To register for bidding, simply follow this link and pray somebody doesn’t want it more than you do.

Yeah, well, I can't argue against that car. It's simply stunning, pop rivets and all. Probably well worth the money!

This car failed to sell back in 2008, the reserve then was about 2 million.

and sold in 2010 for £728,000

The 5 original and 1 early 80's factory recreation SV/J all look different.

What really grabs my attention is the chassis number isn't one of the original factory chassis numbers for an SV/J. It's not listed in the Miura register. The 5 original chassis numbers are 4860, 4934, 4990, 5090, 5100

Wow what a stunning car even though it has kitcar style build with pop rivets, it is a beauty and a true classic!

I've come to the conclusion, when it comes to modern Lambos, the whole stealth-fighter ethos just doesn't do it for me.

The classics, like Miura and Countach, well, that's another story. The curves are just gorgeous on the Miura. And something about a transverse V12 is so crazy to me. I love the color scheme of this particular example.

Just look at this video and hear the sound of its engine! Awesome!
