Katrin Adt is the new head of the smart brand. Adt has held various positions at Daimler since 1999. She has been the vice president of the HR department since 2014. The previous smart chief, Annette Winkler, will step down from the position on September 1st, 2018.

Katrin Adt, 46, has worked for Daimler for almost two decades. Her CV includes positions such as the head of worldwide sales management for the smart brand and the Chief Executive Officer of the Luxembourg sales organization, where she was responsible for the wholesale, retail and service functions for the Mercedes-Benz Cars, Mercedes-Benz Trucks and Mercedes-Benz Buses. She will take over as head of smart in September.

Enthusiastic about personnel development, she joined one of the largest international human-resources consultancies in 2013. The following year caught her as a vice president of the Human Resources department at Daimler, being responsible for the development, the qualification, the support for top management.

Britta Seeger, Member of the Board of Management of Daimler AG responsible for Mercedes-Benz Cars Sales, praises the assignment of Adt as head of smart: “Katrin Adt has years of international experience. With her experience in various management positions in sales and marketing and the companywide management culture initiative Leadership 2020, she will steer smart into a successful future.”

Before Adt came in as head of smart, it was another woman deciding the fate of the tiniest of cars. Annette Winkler, 58, is now stepping down after eight years at the top of the brand. Winkler is taking on a new challenge. She will join the Supervisory Board of Mercedes-Benz South Africa as of January 1, 2019.
