Back in November last year I wrote a piece about the ‘New’ Jensen Interceptors being built at Cropredy Bridge by V Eight Ltd. We’ve had quite a number of enquiries about this car (quite right too - It offers the best of both worlds; classic cool and contemporary reliability) and I’ve had a long conversation with Alan Garnett (the former Chairman of Morgan) who now owns V Eight Ltd about the car and their plans. And there’s lots of good news.

Sixty percent of the 50 cars scheduled to be re-made have now found homes, and the order book is growing quickly. I’m so pleased for them. There have been failed and futile attempts to resurrect Jensen before, but this methodology (re-building existing cars) is a great way to go, and the sale success has proved how sound the business model is. Of course, having the experience of Croperdy Bridge to do the work is probably the master stroke, but V Eight deserve huge praise for giving the beautiful Jensen new life.
The real news however is what’s planned for 2010. Buoyed by the success of the S, V Eight are now planning a real supercar - The Jensen Interceptor SX. This is not just a re-built Interceptor (although it too will be based on a donor car) but a complete modern re-working of the car. This car is an extreme development of the Interceptor with a new luxury interior and 2008 body styling. It will still be easily recognised as a Jensen Interceptor but will have the G.M. LS7+ engine developing 620b.h.p. They have found a way to give more interior leg-room and intend to build a limited edition of 25 at a cost around £145,000.
V Eight already has a handful of confirmed orders for the SX from owners waiting for their S, but now the news is out I think they will have one or two more. Just get in touch with us if you want more information on the SX, or the chance to own one of the remaining Interceptor S.
