XJ Jaguar goes high-luxe with $155,000 XJ Ultimate

The Jaguar XJ is a series of mid-size/full-size luxury cars produced from 1968 to 2019. It was produced across four basic platform generations (debuting in 1968, 1986, 2003, and 2009) with various updated derivatives of each. From 1970, it was Jaguar's flagship four-door model. The original model was the last Jaguar saloon to have been designed under the leadership of Sir William Lyons, the company's founder, and the model has been featured in countless media and high-profile appearances.

Jaguar announced today that it will enter the ultra-premium market with its new limited edition XJ Ultimate, a $155,000 super sedan that appears to live up to its name.

Most of the XJ Ultimate’s changes come inside, although it does feature unique 20-inch forged alloy wheels and a suspension optimized to provide more rear seat comfort, a move that highlights the big sedan’s emphasis. Despite the white shade shown in these press photos, Jaguar says that XJ Ultimates bound for this market will feature a Black Amethyst paint shade with unique “discreet” details and badging.Rear seat passengers will be coddled with a pair of individually-tailored rear seats trimmed in a soft semi-aniline leather. Featuring a range of power adjustment that includes both massaging and heating or cooling, the seats are separated by a full-length, leather-trimmed central console. Both passengers receive iPads with integrated keyboards, as well as a solid aluminum business table that is powered into position at the touch of a button.Should the XJ Ultimate’s passengers need to relax, a pair of champagne flutes are mounted in a dedicated storage area and a champagne chiller between the rear seats keeps bottles at ideal temperatures. Further, a 20-speaker Meridian audio system provides high-quality sound for all passengers, although wireless headphones are also included. The XJ Ultimate is powered by a 510-horsepower 5.0-liter supercharged V8 mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission.Just 30 examples of the XJ Ultimate are bound for buyers in the United States when the big sedan goes on sale late this year. The XJ Ultimate comes from Jaguar’s bespoke “Engineered to Order” (ETO) division, which builds specific, modified Jaguar and Land Rover products. The division also created the Range Rover Autobiography and the Jaguar XKR-S. Jaguar Land Rover says that more ETO vehicles can be expected in the near future.

I like the separation or individualization of back seats.

I'm glad to see Jag is back in business with right cards & quality products. However, I'd never drop $155K on a car with cat emblem! B7 here please! ;)

The dual screen configuration is redundant given that people carry internet connected iPhones and iPads.

You mean Smartphones and Tablets. :D ;)

I guess it's just there for novelty-sake. Two is better than one....and if you have a tablet, then 3 is better than 2! :D

Very classy, I like it. As a car I'd drive, the XJ comes right on top in its class for me, in SuperSport guise please. But that is if I'd ever consider driving a car of that size...
