Is this normal? 16" spare tire?

As you know, I've just recently bought a '06 VW Jetta 2.0 TFSI.

All is good and the acceleration is marvelous.

While I was washing my car, I opened up my trunk to see where my emergency kits were.

I found that the emergency kit was to be found right where the spare tire is. But here's the situation. I see a 16" wheel as a spare tire. Now, my TFSI came mounted with four 7.5J 17" Alloy wheels (225/45R17). As a normal customer, I would expect to see a 17" wheel of the same spec (225/45R17) for a spare tire but NOT.

Is this normal or have I been cheated? :t-hands:

Well for some cars, the spare tire doesn't come in the same size as the standard wheels. Some offer this as optional extra, but some doesn't even offer it because the boot isn't design to contain the same size spare as the factory optioinal wheels.

It is best to look around the offical website and check the equipment list again, and ring your dealer even though they probably won't have an answer for you.

I agree with Monster ring the dealer or customer care line if your unsure whether your mean't to have some size spare wheel ;)

I rang my dealer and was told that all Jetta's whether it has 16" or 17" as base wheels, spares are all 16". He also told me that there would be no problem whatsoever in temporarily riding the car with a 16" spare if I ever got flat tire.

:t-cheers:
