Iron: Chrome for privacy fanatics

If you want to use Google Chrome but are concerned or have questions about Google's policies for collecting usage data, you might want to give Iron a try.

Iron, developed by German software company SRWare is Chrome stripped of all the user ID information that gave the German government cause for concern.

* No unique user-ID
* No user-specific information is sent to Google
* No alternative error messages
* Crash information is not sent to Google
* No Google updater

Has anybody tried this?
 
Sounds interesting. I keep hearing good things about Chrome, never tried it myself because of those privacy issues Google is so well-known for...

Depending of my needs, I use Midori (when on Ubuntu) or Firefox (when on XP)...

And Ixquick/Startpage instead of Google.
 
Chrome is indeed very fast and stable. One negative thing in addition to the privacy issues is that because every tab is a separate process (to improve stability so that the whole browser doesn't freeze when one tab freezes), it consumes a lot of memory:

That's not really a problem if you have a lot of RAM though.
