OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE

Stuttgart, Germany, Feb 12, 2010

The renowned Chicago Athenaeum - Museum of Architecture and Design has given three Mercedes-Benz models a singular honour by presenting the E-Class, the E-Class Coupé and the SLR Stirling Moss with the GOOD DESIGN® Award - the oldest award for outstanding product design.

The Chicago Athenaeum - Museum of Architecture has been presenting its international GOOD DESIGN® Award for the world's most innovative and well-designed products each year since 1950. This year the institution decided to present three Mercedes-Benz models with the GOOD DESIGN® Award - the E-Class, the E-Class Coupé and the SLR Stirling Moss.

In the previous two years, the jury for the GOOD DESIGN® Award also recognised the high design quality of Mercedes-Benz automobiles by presenting the award to the GLK and the C-Class.

The former curator of the Museum of Modern Art, Edgar Kaufmann Jr., founded the Chicago Athenaeum - Museum of Architecture sixty years ago, together with the major modern design pioneers Charles and Ray Eames, Russel Wright, George Nelson and Eero Saarinen.

E-class sedan:thumbdwn:

My favourite....E-Coupè:eusa_clap (except for the SLS:icondrool coolest Merc by far!)

yeah mate the SLS wow

Human i dont agree on your E but hey thats why its a forum..

As I said before Fortuner, E-class is FAR from something like ugly AND that is what an E-class should look like, though mate...a bit to much of an evolution and 'daai gat...Koreaans':D

Have a great weekend! :usa7uh:

That W212 E-Class in the press photo has dirty tires. Who the hell was responsible for allowing this photo to pass? They could have at least "cleaned" the tires after the shoot using Photoshop. It's a very simple procedure.

Anyway, great to hear that there are people out there, who know more about design than anyone here, who judge the E-Class to be of a great design. That's really good to hear after all the crap we've been hearing from BMW fan(boys).

SLR Stirling Moss - what a joke. Pure ugliness created by the devil himself. Yes I'm a (graphic) designer myself and I know the difference between good and bad. And regarding E-class its not that good of design, certainly not from the rear and 3/4 view of the rear. BMW fans are hardly the only ones complaining on the new E-class, so does MB owners as well.

...but like everybody says everytime on this board, design is subjective. These guys, Edgar Kaufmann Jr., Charles ,Ray Eames, Russel Wright, George Nelson and Eero Saarinen they have opinions and these opinions are subjective and their opinions does not make other opinions worth less.
