You know what I would really want from BMW? A modern day equivalent of the E90 320si.

The popular models in South Africa were the 318iS E36 that had the 4 valve per cylinder version of the 1.8 M40 engine (M42 if I am correct) with 103kw(140PS) and 180nm, it was a high performer at the time with a 10sec 0-100 dash and a 216kmh top speed. Best model in the E36 range possibly maybe join best with the 328i model.

The E36 318is came with a limited slip diff!

That was a great limited edition of an affordable 3er! Not everyone can buy himself a 340i. People should be able to buy a 3er with a lesser engine, yet a few good goodies for a descent price.

You can buy a 318i with M Performance parts. Like the big brakes or M performance suspension system (even lower than M Sport), or even an LSD.

...but the price of it all will make the car probably as expensive as a standard 340i
