So yesterday I was down at the Max-Josef-Platz for a school photography project. Me and my partner were supposed to photograph the skateboarders when all of a sudden a Chevrolet Camaro SS and two Ford Mustang GT's show up!
The Camaro had an "Auto Magnus" sticker on the side and I guessed early on that this was an import dealership that specialized in American cars. Later at home I found their website (Home page - Auto Magnus). I had to laugh my ass off when I saw that they had a Lexus ES in their showroom. A fancy Camry for Europe?
Anyway, the two models, the photographer and the guy in the blue shirt were all Russians and spoke only Russian it seemed. There was also a Canadian man who seemed to be the boss and a German women (his assistant) with them. The Canadian described his photoshoot visions to the German woman who then spoke in Russian to the photographer (who told the models what to do) and the guy in the blue shirt (who positioned the cars). I don't think this photographer was a pro since they were photographing at the worst possible time: extreme sunlight. And of course in a busy public place with lots of background and foreground distractions. Also, this being Germany (
), the cops showed up (
) and began questioning the group about a permit for photographing in a public place (
). I don't know how they solved the issue since after some time the cops left and these guys kept shooting.
Here's the best part. I approached the German woman early on during the shooting and chatted with her for awhile. At a suitable moment I told her that photographing cars is one of my passions and that I would like to send her some of my pictures. She gave me her card and told me to email her sometime. I remained with them throughout the shooting and also took some shots of my own. I guess the way I took pictures must have impressed her since at the end of the day she told me she wants me to stop by their place sometime for a photoshoot! In her words: "Come by our place because we might have some photography jobs for you!"
Ok, so here are some of the shots. I am posting the crappy pictures here because I am saving the good ones for the photo competitions. Also, I still had to take pictures for my school project which meant I had to take most of the car shots here in JPEG format as I needed the 4 GB card disk space for RAW format shots for my school project photos.
