I might have a new car in four weeks

All right guys, let's keep it civil, and about the cars and not other members. Thank you...

S3's ride is too firm for South African roads. Probably ok on smooth Scandinavian tarmac but then you may as well go for a 6 month old Megane RS or Scirroco R. S3 is old hat now, regardless of how well the Sportback version holds its value.

I'm with Martin here, the S3 is old now that the new A3 is out. My personal opinion remains that the very best option here is the Scirroco R and not the Megane RS, it's very nearly as exciting, only slightly slower on the track but as quick in the real world and a hell of a lot more civilised.

Get off my back, mr "R8 is not a sportscar", aight? You are making a fool out of your self. There is a limit, and you just crossed. Dont piss me off.
If you go on to that thread I think you'll see I said something along the lines of " I mean " You do realise that you are talking about the most balanced, most all round, most positive reviewed sports car of all time" and " The R8 is still chosen by journalist as the best sports car all time" is more than a little biased. The fact is the 458 is better because it is roughly twice the price of the R8. And the R8 V10 being the best supercoupe around the £100k mark along with the 911 Turbo." Now please try not to go off topic.

There are plenty of 250 hp Megane (resale value is pretty bad for Renault) for sale but only one a single RS with 265hp for sale and the car cost more than a brand new Scirocco R. Let the first owner take the money loss, then its getting intresting.
Never been a fan of french cars and what I've read the ride is pretty harsh compare to other rivals and I'm not sold on the look either.

I never liked Audi A3 and S3 is old now plus it got not so good steering feel. I like the engine but its not enough.

I dont think you should let a relative lack of power hold you back from any of these hatches because a quick remap will fix that, and you'll make up the cost of it in the increased fuel effiency. If you're still not a fan of the RS Megane then I think a 'mapped MK6 GTI would be perfect, especially if ride comfort is a consideration.

The present gen Megane is a pretty reliable car, much improved compared to last one. So, go ahead with the Renaulsport :D

I went to my Toyota dealer to check out GT86 and hopefully to drive the car but the sales person ignored me and just walked past me without even say Hello. I didnt know Toyota dealers treat their customers like that. BMW dealers are much better.

Renault resale value are really bad , in three years they wont be worth much. Thats why I dont want one.

Levi won't want to hear this but I got to drive the GT86 briefly as my painter/decorator just collected his two days ago. Steers nicely and appeared to have a nice balanced chassis but it's got little go at all unless you rev the absolute balls off it.

Sorry Just_me, but it seems as if no car suits you. Several nice cars have been suggested, but you have some sort of a problem with every one of them  And everytime you come up with a new suggestion (GT86). My advise is, think thoroughly for yourself which car you want and just buy it. Most of us do so

Not true Mike but Im nitpicky when it comes to cars and dont want to buy cars I get tired of after a month. I drove GT86 today, more on that later.....
