Hyundai has some decisions to make. It seems the company's decision makers can't decide which grille design they're going to go with on its new luxury sedan, the 2009 Hyundai Genesis. Right now they have two to choose from, and they're both being displayed on the Detroit auto show floor. Wheels, too. Notice the wheels on the red car are different from the wheels on the black car in the photo Hyundai sent us just last week.
According to Wayne Killen, Hyundai's director of product planning, he and his team are gathering opinions over the next few days, but Hyundai could end up using either, both or neither design.
Personally, I like the funky grille without the Hyundai badge and sportier-looking wheels on the black car. Tell me, which do you like better? -- Scott Oldham, Inside Line Editor in Chief
Straightline - 2008 Detroit Auto Show: 2009 Hyundai Genesis Has Two Grilles and Two Wheels
This is the kind of nonsense you get when you don't have anything to draw on but your competitor's styling. Could you imagine a German, Japanese, British or American luxury car company not knowing which grille to use and showing both of them at an autoshow? IMO, the first grille looks the best, but it needs the H symbol from the second grille intergrated into it somehow. Either way the car is handsome if the most contrived thing since the first generation LS400.
