Hyundai is counting on new products like the 2015 Hyundai Genesis and the Equus to help sway luxury car buyers into Hyundai showrooms, but Automotive Newsreports that some dealerships are looking to give these customers a unique dealership experience. Though not required from Hyundai, franchises are coming up with new ways to keep buyers happy when required to visit the dealership.
One such dealership is Burns Hyundai located in Marlton, N.J., which has created the “Genesis Lounge” for its customers with the Genesis and the Equus. Instead of the standard customer waiting area that many dealerships have, this dealership has a dedicated lounge for its higher-end customers to relax while visiting for a sales or service appointment. To access the “Genesis Lounge,” Genesis and Equus buyers are given a personal three-digit code, and once inside, they’re treated to leather lounge chairs, big-screen TVs and cappuccino.

Of course, most Equus drivers will never have to visit the dealership, since Hyundai’s personal concierge service provides pick up and drop off of the car when service or maintenance are required. Yet again, Burns Hyundai takes things up a notch by giving each Equus and Genesis sedan a car wash and a full tank of gas as it leaves the dealership.

Even the buying process has been custom-tailored for customers willing to drop $40,000 or $61,000 at a Hyundai dealership. Buyers of the Genesis and Equus have a private area to go over all of the paperwork, and the article says that every Equus customer deals directly with Burns Hyundai’s general manager. The dealership also offers special events such as wine tastings at local restaurants.

While it’s not clear exactly how many Hyundai dealers have such amenities for customers, this is definitely a useful tool as Hyundai attempts to sway customers away from Mercedes, Lexus and other traditional luxury automakers.

Good luck with that. I will say the new Genesis makes sense for the price of the V6, but the V8 and the Equus model, no way. Too much money and there are much better choices.
