With another strong month in the books, BMW Group is one step closer to setting an annual record for sales.
Collectively, BMW, MINI and Rolls-Royce sold a total of 139,276 vehicles worldwide in October, a record for the month and an increase of 8.3 percent from the same period last year. Strong sales in China bolstered the brands, with the region snapping up 18,346 BMW Group cars for a 33.5 percent upswing.Global sales of BMW vehicles rose last month by 6.8 percent to 115,136 units, while MINI also saw in increase of 16.2 percent to 23,839 cars. Rolls-Royce production figures were not immediately revealed, but Leftlane did some old-fashioned number-crunching and determined that the British ultra-luxury brand moved 301 vehicles in October.Notable individual performances came from the X3, for which demand increased 333.8 percent last month to 10,949 vehicles, the new 6-Series, which saw sales of 1,152 units for an improvement of 506.3 percent, and the Countryman, with a 145.2 percent boost on sales of 8,645 vehicles.“Once again we achieved record sales [in] October,” said Ian Robertson, a member of BMW Group’s board of directors. “The group is well on its way to reaching its target of more than 1.6 million units and achieving an all-time high for sales in 2011.”
