M5 Got the new M5

The BMW M5 is a high-performance variant of the BMW 5 Series marketed under the BMW M sub-brand. It is considered an iconic vehicle in the sports saloon category. The first M5 model was hand-built beginning in late 1984 on the E28 535i chassis with a modified engine from the M1 that made it the fastest production saloon at the time. M5 models have been produced for every generation of the 5 Series since 1984, with occasional gaps in production (1995 to 1998, 2023 to 2024). Official website: BMW M

Hello folks. Just thought I’d share my new M5 purchase as per old tradition here. Will write something up later but for now some random pics and a question. Do you all think I should refinish the wheels in the shadow chrome I had on my e46? The e39 had them as well. The calipers are Black which I think will help. Thanks in advance.

I realise this must be incredibly exciting for you, new cars always are, but the new M5 is a meh car, despite all the power and all the tech it's a hefty pig, how can BMW M launch a car that weights in at 2435kg, 453kg more than the previous model, and a whopping 1025kg more than the E28 M5!!! IMO this is a car BMW should never have built and badged as an M5, it would make far more sense as an Aplina.

I like the colour and shadow chroming the wheels would look nice.

That finish on the old wheels always looked good. Personally I much prefer it to the gloss black finish on the current ones.

Congrats on the purchase!

Something's amiss with your EQ. The new M5's weight gain due to hybridisation has been discussed ad nauseam in other threads. What you're saying here is old news.
More the question though, why cast such aspersions in a thread where a member is sharing their happy news that they've got a new BMW - just as you have in your thread? Over there, you got nothing but good-willed congratulations and yet here?

Congrats @trader1 - what a privilege to be able to acquire such an exclusive piece of machinery. Wishing you many happy miles and smiles.

Oh, and I say leave the wheels black. Suits the sinister looks of the car, imho.

Congrats on the new car @trader1

May you enjoy it in good health!

PS. Don't let the negativity of others, or the laws of physics let you down :D
Hilarious, it handles well as far as I can tell with limited experiences thus far. A buddy of mine whom I got into 2 M5’s says the same thing about the weight. It’s sad how decisive conclusions can be made from reviews etc as opposed to raw experience. I bought the car for giggles, if it weighed a little more I’d get a tax write off and some more smiles.

when you need him ? lol
If I recall correctly he would use the meme

Congrats!!! Enjoy in good health!!! Eagerly awaiting first impressions. What kind of tires does it have? Perf or all season? They look like Hankook all season?

Congratulation. Yes. Shadow chrome would give the car a bit of pop. Now it looks a bit too black. Have you driven it in e-mode much? Do You plan to charge it?

BMW M

BMW M GmbH, formerly known as BMW Motorsport GmbH, is a subsidiary of BMW AG that manufactures high-performance luxury cars. BMW M ("M" for "motorsport") was initially created to facilitate BMW's racing program, which was very successful in the 1960s and 1970s. As time passed, BMW M began to supplement BMW's vehicle portfolio with specially modified higher trim models, for which they are now most known by the general public. These M-badged cars traditionally include modified engines, transmissions, suspensions, interior trims, aerodynamics, and exterior modifications to set them apart from their counterparts. All M models are tested and tuned at BMW's private facility at the Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany.
