In 2006 in German market only 32.8% of all sold new BMW vehicles were sold to individual buyers. 67.2% sales went to companies, or leasing providers.

Audi individual sales accounted 33.5% of all sales, by MB the percentage was 50.1%, by VW 47.5%.

Note: mind that in Germany there are A LOT small private-owned companies - so basically people are buying their cars via their company account. And also a lot premium cars are being leased.

that means.. ppl have BMW´s and Aud´s for work..
and with their own hard earned cash they want something speciall..so they buy MB´s.. lol ... j/k

These are some interesting figures, why such differences? Here in the states all you get is that Mercedes are bought for taxi services, yet they sell more to individuals than either BMW or Audi? Is that what this says here?

Those numbers are a bit complicated to explain. They are not about fleet sales.

They are not representing the percentage of cars in individual private vs corporate use - I'm sure BMW & Audi have higher percentage of private users than MB since MB fleet sales is stronger.

What those numbers are trying to explain is how many cars (percentage) is bought by individuals (on their account), and how many by companies (on a company account). But mind that the numbers of company buyers include, but not specify:

a) individual buyers who bought cars via their private-owned companies - on company account but for their individual private use

b) corporate buyers for fleet usage (rent-a-car companies, taxi companies, protocol governmental or corporate cars, special-use cars ie police, fire brigade etc ...)

c) leasing companies for leasing the cars to either individual, or corporate buyers

So the numbers just do not tell how many cars are in fleet & how many in individual use - they only tell the official status of owner / buyer (individual person or company). Mind that leased cars are officially a property of leasing companies, not lease users!

In my opinion these numbers are not important. It all depend on buying conditions. In Canada leasing is much cheaper then buying a car (everybody I know are leasing cars). You buy a car if you are going to keep it for at least 8 years. I am allways leasing my car for 3 years so I can have the most recent model.:t-drive:

I can only speculate that more individual buyers = more older buyers / pensioners who do not have their companies anymore & tend to use conventional buying methods (cash & loan). :D

It's a german tax scam/cheat.

In Germany many people have their de facto cars via the de jure company car system witch allows them to bypass some taxation.

Exactly. :usa7uh:

So ... the conclusion: BMW & Audi owners are more tend to cheat than MB owners. :D;) /j/k
