GCF new Interface!!

Just checked with my laptop and it's perfectly fine... both have the same settings, same version, XP, SP2, etc...

The difference is in the JRE:
- Laptop has v1.4.0_01-b03
- Desktop has v1.5.0_05-b05

... so I update my desktop to 1.5.0_06-b05 (v5 update 6) but the bug still appears!

... I also updated my laptop to v5, and it still works fine!

So the problem appears to my desktop, dunno what though!

Klier, it seems that you got the error while we were fixing something. Can you reproduce the error?

Klier, what browser are you using? Netscape?

It's working fine agian today Brian.
I am using the latest IE (but not IE 7 beta), but my guess is that it was a maintenance error or something...

Awesome job on the new lay-out! Very slick!

Hey Brian, congrats on your new look :D , but i still think, the previous version (WCF, GCF, etc) looks better...

BTW, what i want to ask you, is what do you think about the domain name (worldcarfans.com). I think that GCF, ACF, JSF, etc, is easier to remember and are more "clear'' when you are looking about something specific...

Yes, design changes are always difficult to get comfortable with at first. But you're a smart guy Yannis. This shouldn't be too hard to adjust to. Besides, nothing has really changed other than the names, and the names also are still essentially the same (just without the "Fans"). ACF, GCF, JCF are still there with all of the same updates and functionality. :eusa_danc

If there's anything we are really excited about, its the addition of EuropeanCars section. 36 new car manufacturers including the specialty makers and design houses. There's going to be some incredible cars coming across those pages soon. Test drives for Conti GT and Murcielago Roadster coming in the next couple of weeks. Also, we'll be at Geneva so expect photos to get updated real fast. Watch the new Motor Show section for updates.

Siko, sorry about the trouble with your Desktop PC. I wish I could help more. The Java web site has a "verify installation" tool. It will detect any problems just incase the installation has become corrupt over time.

Sounds exciting! can`t wait for the new info. and photos. Site looks nice as well. Good job Brian.

I will get used to it. Actually it is not that bad. Weird is the right word for me :t-cheers:

As for the EuropeanCars section, it is really really exciting. I was waiting for it for a long time. GCF used to be one of my main info sources for german cars. You are now going to supply me with info and news about almost every brand in the world :usa7uh:

Good luck and best wishes, Giannis

bum-man,
I definitely agree the search engine could improve. When our own internal search engine doesn't render the results you want I suggest using the Google powered search function. You can select to search WCF pages only. This usually does the trick.

The Artist,
Since the launch of the redesign we have been receiving unprecedented traffic. This combined with some other internal problems caused the site to load very very slow. But 24 hours ago, we managed to troubleshoot the problem while making some network improvements as well. Now we are seeing a substantial increaser in page load speeds.

Bien, Frank and Brian

One qustion, Brian or Frank.... What happened with Mr.D and GJ? I know they were mods on forums, but it seems they aren't the part of the GCF/WCF anymore... :eusa_thin

:t-cheers:

The new format is a little weird at present, but I'm sure I will get used to it will time!

When are you guys going to launch the newsletter, I signed up for it and haven't got any E-mails yet!

Doing a great job, loving the new test drives, keep up the good work!
