Videos Fifth Gear - Porsche Cayenne GTS vs BMW X5 Shootout

X5 need the new V8 Turbo engine :D

its nuts how good handling these high cars have, almost to good to be true.

A new engine isn't going to allow the X5 to "rape" the Cayenne GTS, IMO. You need the new V8 and the X6 to match or beat the Cayenne GTS, if it is possible.

An extra 50bhp pack makes a handy difference & Cayenne still can't do some off-road jobs like X5 does :t-drive: ...!

Beside my love for Bimmer, I loved Cayenne since very first day & Gts is just a simple addition to that love :t-cheers:...!

I was just wondering what X5 they would use against the GTS... since there is no real competitior to the latter.

The classic expression on GCF: Who takes their SUV to the tracks anyway? ;) :D

The result is just as predictable as a M3 vs C63 track test. For the record this must be the best looking Cayenne ever.

4.8i

I'm not surprised by the result, the Cayenne has sports suspension, lower ground clearance, stronger engine...

Like they mentioned in the video both of them have active suspension so ground clearance and power are the only major differences. I just did some digging and apparently both of them are rocking 4.8L V8 but Porsche seem to have maxed out their ones to develop 405hp compared with the Bimmers 350hp.

Mind that GTS is a type of car similar to X5's "iS" variant, not to the regular one. Meaning: being tuned in a more sporty way than the regular models.

When "X5 Sport" is out, then a proper comparison to GTS can be made.

And do not forget: Cayenne has always been the most sportiest SUV around. It's a Porsche for God's sake.

:t-cheers:

Same case with Panamera: be sure the car will be ultimate sporty 4dr car. It has to be - to deserve the Porsche badge.

Very true! :usa7uh:

You're telling me an X6 with its dynamic AWD and the tt V8 wouldn't beat the GTS ?! ;)
