Facelifted or Pre-Facelifted Mercedes SL?

I think the FL is really awesome. Making it even better, and you'll see it will grow on you.

The SL has been a highly popular car because it is THE dream car, it has a star on the grill, is a convertible and is ahead turner. Naturally the preface lifted is after 5 years no longer a head turner. Therefore I would unquestionably want to drive the face lifted this year. In with the new out with the old. It's time to move on.

As for SL, yeah the face lifted SL will look new for now, but 10 or 20 years down the line, which do you think will look better? My money is on the original.

Haven't seen Roman Holiday but will look into it

Off course the pre-facelifted will be the more handsome one in 20-30 but right now, today, I want the face lifted one.

The new one, much fresher and a much needed facelift for the SL. Nothing can stay for ever and however bueatiful the pre-facelift one is it needed to be freshened up with a half radical change

The important change to the appearance was not so much the lights, but rather, the width of the grille (to bring it in line with the new bolder 'Retro' detailing)-- the lights had to be changed because there wasn't enough room to keep them. These lights are a compromise.....obviously intended to appear related to the CLS' .....interestingly, the CLS' grille is a similar size to the current (Pre-face lifted) SL's.

I can't imagine how that one will look. We went through this same thing with the previous CL vs the new one, wondering how Mercedes would ever, if they could iprove upon the old one, yet they did. So we'll see. We have about 3 more years of the R230 Version 3 to go.
