So this is it, the time we find out whether BMW really has rekindled the old E30 M3 magic with the hotly anticipated 1-series M Coupe.

Waiting to put it through the wringer are three very different yet extremely capable adversaries: the lightweight, ultra-focused mid-engined Porsche Cayman R, the slick and potent all-wheel-drive Audi TT RS, and the honest-to-goodness Nissan 370Z, here being tested in box-fresh GT Edition specification for the very first time.

As always, bows and praise for the Cayman. It is one of the finest sports cars money can buy. One thing that Porsche should do for the next generation Cayman is price it like the cabrio and more people will flock to buy it. It's one of the few car models which are more expensive in a hardtop body. That must be reversed.

Couldn't agree with you more on this, in fact it's the only model that Porsche do this with though in their defense it's marketed as a separate model to the Boxster. Personally I would forgo some of it's superior balance and handling for the chance to drop the roof and catch some rays but that's me which was exactly what I did.

Let's hope the upcoming M3 is on the same level as 1M - or better up - a lot better. Then we have killer machine.
