The Stelvio Pass is one of the greatest driving roads in Europe. So what better place to take four of the continent's best sounding cars? The V8s in the Alfa Romeo 8C Spider, Audi R8 Spyder and Aston Martin Vantage S Roadster and the flat-six in the Porsche 911 Carrera GTS Cabriolet all sound fabulous, and with the roof of each drop-top stowed, the walls and valleys of Stelvio are a wonderful place to savour all of the noise.

Listen to them all and pick your favourite with the video below, and read the full story in evo issue 161, on sale Weds August 17.

Thanks for posting this!
IMO Alfa is the best looking and best sounding, but I'm not sure if I would buy it over the R8 or 911; it's too expensive and not as good to drive.
The Vantage isn't for me, IMO DB9 and DBS are more excellent. :)

I have been lucky to witness the 8C on the road three times. Two red ones and one White Spyder. For a car that size it is one hell of a head turner. Easily one of the top 5 most mesmerising cars money can buy. I would love to be seen in one just fo the sake of it and then watch photos of myself in it. That's how gorgeous it is.

I don't know what the EVO verdict is but I'm guessing they put the R8 first. Again. Oh, and it would be my first choice too. The most special car here is an Audi - how weird does that sound considering the company: Alfa Romeo, Aston Martin and Porsche?!?

No surprise here,I'd choose the R8. I love the Aston's design, and the Alfa's growl, but for the thrills the GTS,and the Audi top my list.

I chose the Alfa, just for the looks and the fact that it's the only one of these that you don't see every day on the road, probably not the best drive of these but looks first in this case :)

One of the rare occasions where I would let the looks decide my choice - 8C, one of the, if not the most beautiful modern cars.

R8 would come next.

R8 it is, hands down! However, I must say all others are also very close followers & look just great!!

I chose the R8 because that is what I would pick without a doubt. Following that, I would pick the Aston and then the Alfa and the Porsche would be tied.

For some reason, the 8C just simply doesn't look attractive to me. I can appreciate the design, but I am not a fan.

One more thing: I do not think that Aston's look good in green. I know it has been one of the aston's favorite colors, but I personally do not think it makes the car look its best.

I'm not feeling the green at all,I really like cobalt blue though/:usa7uh: Surprisingly never seen that color in person though.

/\ I agree with you.

The cobalt blue is stunning and I am sure I saw it only once at The Collection in the Gables.

I've seen the car at Autoshow. I didnt like it all. Looks better in pics than IRL IMO.

They have so many super cars in that dealer. They have an R8GT in their inventory hopefully work isn't so hectic, and I can see it this week.

Well that's a surprise to hear. The car stands out even more on the road and lookalike it deserves a more fitting habitat for its looks. The red colour is something special and is most likely patented.

Definitely the 8C..the most beautiful car on the road not just among these cars and it has a Ferrari V8..yes please.:D

Hands down the Alfa. It may not be the best driveing or fastest car, if it was for this purpose I would not take a roadster. But because it is the most exclusive, the today's only Alfa with RWD and V8. The headturner if to drive along the Cost d'Azure or Miami Beach.
