'Why not post a quick hello to introduce yourself?'

So I did. :D

A bit of background - I live in the UK, deepest darkest Wiltshire to be precise, I work for the Ministry of Defence and I'm a Master Gunner. No kids (yet! :eusa_thin ), wife drives a current gen Audi A3 Sportback (yes, I know, rather yawn-inducingly average!) but thinking of changing it soon and I currently have a Fiat Stilo Abarth, which I'm never going to sell because it's fab in every way.

I also used to have, as Kowalski may tell you, a 2006 Mercedes E280CDi Estate (alongside said Stilo Abarth) that died a terrible death. Basically nothing worked after six months of faultless, luxurious Merc ownership - no locks, no engine, no electrics, no nothing. Merc have since said they'll buy it back off me though as they're as baffled as I am. Nothing against it though, because it was one of the best cars I've ever owned.

And before I stop rambling...what car d'ya think came before the Merc?

It's very sporty, quite unusual in Europe, and has a V8.

Welcome to the forums mate.:t-cheers:

How it's possible that your wife has a better car than you?:t-hands:

I doubt this is it, because most people don't refer to them as sporty - but a Lexus? A Cadillac?

Or maybe a Corvette?

Hello and welcome. :t-cheers:
You'll find many people here who think the car your wife drives is great, but unfortunately not that many who appreciate the products of Italian mainstream manufacturers.

Something with a Holden badge perhaps?

Or maybe a Corvette?

Bang on! Impressive! I knew I shouldn't have given that clue...:eusa_doh:

Yes, I owned a 2005 Chevrolet Corvette for six months and it was god awful - everything that could fall off did just that, I actually have scars from some of the interior plastics and it did 23mpg MAX. Contrast that to the Merc which was perfectly built and reliable until it, err, broke.

Of course, the off-beat five cylinder thrum will always beat the dull chug of an Audi diesel...;)

Ouch! That sounds like a terrible experience. If you don't mind me asking, what allured you to the Corvette in the first place?

Styling? value for money?

I don't know really. I had a V70 at the time (so Volvo - Corvette - Merc - Fiat = bit odd really!!) but wanted something exciting and I remember seeing a silver cabrio that I liked the look of.

Performance was great, something I crave (an E46 M3 beckons methinks! :D ) but the rest of it was a bit...err...bollocks..though the looks were sort-of OK. Bit boring for a supercar, contradictory though that is...:)

Err...ok :D

Well, it's good to have you here. Look forward to future conversations. :usa7uh:

Don't worry, I'm not odd enough to have a Kate Beckinsale blog! ;) (sorry!) :D

I shall look forward to conversing..I mean disagreeing! :D

The Stilo Abarth is a nice car. I drove one once and i really liked it. But sadly it didn't sell much, at least here. Basically because of the Fiat badge, and because it could be a little better, IMO

Oh, BTW, welcome here!

Welcome - I look forward to conversing with you in the future. Hope you were able to shift the Corvette to someone else without too much financial aggro...

Thanks! I'm enjoying myself here already, even if it is a little confusing to start with...

Stratstone Cadillac in London sold the Corvette for me whilst I was overseas - apparently a bloke had seen it in the workshop a few months earlier and asked them to let him know if the owner was going to sell it. Which he did, and minus some Stratstone comission, got £4,000 more than he was expecting to sell it for!

Welcome to the forums my friend.

Sorry about being late the welcome page, but i've talked to ya on the other page. :D
