Hey guys.

As most of you know, I have a E92 328i Coupe. Well, after 75K miles, the Halo lights on my car finally went, well one of them did anyway. Now the thing is that I've been wanting to do the Halo modification to have a different color than stale yellow that my car comes with, as well as get a brighter one. I know I can go and ask this in the bimmer forum, but I wanted to ask you all first before going to another forum.

The main thing is that it can't be like $300, I don't have that kind of money. What it should be is brighter as well as not throw any error codes.

Appreciate the help,

I'd stick with stock I think....these aftermarket lights look funny at best in most cases, particularly if you don't want to spend too much money for it....

Klier...Even the facelift E92 has the brighter, white lights. The yellow stock ones are pretty dull and they dim farther when headlights come on.

Cashmere...Thanks bro. Those look pretty damn good. I might have to save up for it though, since I only have around $200 for this.

What I found in the mean time is something called GP Thunder 8500K bulbs. They are basically a replacement bulb, but burn white. Another option is something called Lux Angel eyes.

I changed the stock bulbs out for the GP Thunder 7500K H8 SuperWhite bulbs. Just like yourself, I was on a budget and it was either spend very little on just replacement bulbs, or spend over $250 for proper LED bulbs (such as the Angel iBrights and others).

The GP Thunder's cost less than $20, so with that sort of price you can't expect much. Even though they look better than the stock yellow-ish color, they aren't glowing white like the expensive LED alternatives out there. The brightness is the same as the stock bulb, just the tone of the color is more white-ish. In the day time it's not really noticeable...in fact I'd have to be honest and say the stock yellow rings are a tad more noticeable in the day because they are actually yellow and not white. In the night, the white-ish color does look better than the stock yellow, ...but again, it's nothing to write home about. For a simple cheap $20 mod I think it's alright because the stock yellow-ish bulb really looks old in this day and age of white LED lighting.

If my budget was between $100-200, then I would have opted for these: Bimmian LED Halo Upgrade Kit for BMW 3 Series Coupe and M3 - 2007+ E92

I haven't taken any photos of my lights after I changed out the bulb, but buddy if you would like to see the difference in the color/tone, then I can put in the stock bulbs on one side of the headlights and take a photo to compare directly.

:usa7uh:

Beemer...Thanks bro. Yeah, the Bimmian sounds like it will fit my budget. I did order the GP bulbs from E92 lighting. I'll take pics of it when I get it.

BTW, I think me, you, and GOOGLE should create a picture section of our cars (together).

For the price I think they're pretty darn good! At the moment I'm debating whether to spend that sort of money upgrading the halo's, or fitting 12mm rear-wheel spacers to better fill-out the wheel arches.

Another nice mod you might want to go for is changing out some (or all) of the interior yellow bulbs to white LED's. I haven't done this mod, but just looking at the photos, I think at night time it would look much better to unlock your car and see that bright white/blue glow in the cabin than that warmish-yellow look. Maybe just change out the front dome lights, or the footwells, or even the lights at the bottom of the door.

Too many nice mods...not enough disposable income! :t-banghea

Sounds like a pretty good idea! Holiday season is coming up. :D
