When I went out this evening I got a warning on I-Drive that the passenger restraint system has malfunctioned (either the air bag, the seat belt tensioner or something else to do with the seat belt system) and the air bag and seat belt light are now on.

Does anyone know if this a common problem with a quick fix at the dealership? I'm going to try and take the car in tomorrow but would like to be able to point them in the right direction if it's a fairly common issue.

Thanks in advance...

hmm, i have a friend with a 520 with i-drive and never had any similar problems. please tell me what you was told at the service!

I called the dealership and they told me that it was probably just a sensor. I'm taking the car in on Thursday so we'll see if there's actually a problem or not.

good luck Matt

i had a kinda similar problem with my S60 (DSTC problem) and i needed 10 months and legal action to get the problem fixed...

My wife and I took the car into the dealer this morning and the passenger seat sensor has appearently malfunctioned. They had to order a sensor which won't be in for a week. BMW doesn't want us driving the car because the SRS airbag light is on (if we had an accident we could sue big time...) so they gave us a loaner.

They gave us a Bronze 2007 X3 3.0i until our car is ready. I'm truly unimpressed with the X3, but I'm not a fan of SUVs in general. But, it's better than not having a car so I'm not going to complain.
