Quite an unfair and predicttable race. Should have had the RS3, or the new S3 there to challenge. Others are to far behind.

Given that it had the least power I thought the Golf did remarkably well or is it more the case the others (excluding the M135i) under performed?

Dont forget about price. RS3 is very expensive compare to the others. M135i is actully for once a bargain and not more expensive than Astra OPC and Megane RS. S3 isnt for sale yet but Im sure we will see future comparisons :)
Besides this test is done with performance hatchbacks from year 2012.

DSG and launch control? but I agree the car did well.

The M135i would still win at higher speeds:

^Superior gearing, weight and drivetrain efficiency lead to the M135i besting the RS3 but it took considerable speed for it to overcome the Audi's traction advantage off the line. I doubt the S3 will beat the M135i in a long race but I'm still interested to see how well it does and it might just throw up a few surprises.

Why do we bring others cars in discussion? Why not add an Aventador to te drag, too? :meh:
Because the "other cars" we bring into this discussion , are in the same segment as the M135i. The Aventador, is clearly not. So I dont get your point?

And the RS3 is no longer in production. Am I right? So why don't we bring in the Focus RS500 for instance?

I fail to see how Rs3 is in the same segment as M135i though ;) but you're rigth about S3. But S3 doesnt go for sale until next year, thats why its not a part of this test.

BTW swedish prices are on paper now, 377.000 swedish kronor is the base price for a 300hp S3.

To the best of my knowledge the RS3 has been tested against the M135i so it has relevance in the discuss, the Lambo doesn't. I think any car that is a genuine competitor to all these cars in the race could and should be discussed but that's only my opinion and its why I mentioned the S3.

Bottom line is few if any of these cars will be able to truly compete against the M135i such is the killer blow that BMW dealt when they introduced this thing, thank heaven they made it so f'ing ugly otherwise no one would consider anything else. lol

I have read this test and in the end the rated Ford for the first place. Shocking result perhaps!

^After driving a normal Focus and knowing just how good the ST is meant to be I'm not that surprised by the result, though personally I wouldn't chose it over a GTI or M135i in a million years.

That is true, the RS3 is not production anymore. But that's only a test. And the new S3 competes with the M135i. But that dragrace between Audi and BMW, what happens after that two-mile runway end? Where the BMW is limited and RS3? ;)

Basically both were limited at the same speed. ;)

That 271 on the speedo is about 265 kph (after a little calculation). The M135i testcars were limited at 5800 rpm in 7th gear, which is 266 kph.

Damn :D I guess this is not a "testcar"?

So, what car has that the RS3 vs M135i clip? The M135i a testcar(266 kph), or M135i what speedo ends 260 km/h? Do you know what is my point now? :)
