Dad's looking for a daily driver to replace A8 - suggestions?

Yeah, you're right man! Only iDrive is new, and the rest is completely old and done tech
Pfff :bonk:

Gotta love the Audi fanboys :eusa_clap

well i know there are new techs in chassis, suspension and what not, but when my dad asked me what's new (he owns current gen 7er), i couldn't tell him like i did with the s-class that it's got pre-safe, distronic and 7g, just wondering if there is anything new that a non-enthusiast can understand. no need to be so defensive.

again i think for a8 replacement, wait and see is the best option as 7er is just debuted, and since there are "LOTS" of new tech being introduced here, the chance of having little glitches are pretty high. plus s-class facelift is on the horizon, who knew.

It is a trend that has been happening for a while. It pretty much started in the US and then Rolls-Royce ...now all the Germans are doing it ...even Merc is about to enlarge the S class's grille slightly.

I know most people would ask, why would you trade a Maserati for a VW?! But the reasons are that our needs are changing... And the Maser, it just doesn't fit our needs anymore. So that needs to go. We're getting a 170bhp, 240Nm Touran Sport, it's a good deal and it'll mainly be used as the family car. The A8L has now become our 'status car'. :)

MX-5 - I'm trying really hard not to sell this, because it still works fine. If I do sell this, it's gonna be a Honda Type-R or a GTI replacing it. I'm sure you'll disapprove of the former. :D

Well, firstly the A8L is a V8 petrol and although we like it a lot we want to go for a diesel next. Lower fuel consumption and the torque are the reasons. Next, the A8 we bought is great and all, but is optioned quite poorly and the colour choices are all reasonable but not exactly what we'd go for. It's a second hand car, that's why... And, we haven't tried this generation of BMWs yet (the last we had was an E46). Anyway, the A8L is not an urgent sell. ;)

I don't care for the Maserati never liked it..
I have driven the 170 BHP Touran that was the engine and experience that
made me change my point of view of that car.
The Touran it's truly one of the best family cars out there.

That's the point with the Mazda sell it while it still works :D
I am looking for an GTI aswell .. Excellent car too and it has place for 4 more girls and luggage(their make up)!
Will your be loaded with extras ?

You do know you get a 4.0 TDI quattro A8 ?
I had a ride in one of them once.. *No words*

and BTW must been a reason why your family hasn't had any BMW's recently?

Last: you didn't answer my Golf/Jazz question ;)
:t-cheers:

Hahaha, good one, 'explain why'. Every non Audi fanboy in the world will take the new 7er over that old and done A8.
Perfect choice.

It's great that you laugh.. :)

but I am not so sure about that you see:

Don't forget this is a brand new 7'n this means the frist gen. faults in early
production or whatever its called .. you get what I mean?

(Basic none written rule is:
"never buy a car when it's in it first year of production")

:usa7uh:

I wouldnt say that BMW is copying audi. Its kind of a trendy thing for automakers nowadays to polarize certain elements of their cars. For example, Audi and BMW are polarizing their grills to make them stand out more, while Mercerdes and even companies like Volvo and Mazda are polarizing their emblems in the front of some of their larger cars to represent dominance.

P.S. As cars get larger, many of their design elements will become larger as well. Take the head lights for example or the deap striking blood lines on all bmw's

LOL... Well you have a point, the Mazda will leave in a year or less.

My GTI would most likely be used, something less than 2 years old but with low mileage. Still looking around.

To be honest, I prefer driving the A8L to the QP!

BMWs -> sister had a bad experience with the E46 once, but I think we're entering BMW ownership again with the new F01.

Golf/Jazz question - no, it's the 7 speed DSG Golf 1.4TSI.
