Hi guys,
I want to discuss about something that is important for me.
I want you to give your precious opinions about it and help me to shed some light into this phenomenon.
Let's get to the point:
My car's cooling system is consisted of two electric cooling fans which operate in 2 defined modes:
1) - Low speed mode:
In this mode both fans kick in when coolant temperature has reached 95 ºC and they will turn off when coolant temperature has reached about 91 - 92 ºC.
2) - High speed mode:
It is exactly like previous mode except that they both kick in @ 105 ºC and turn off @ 97 ºC.
I'm not going to talk about high speed mode, i want to know the acceptable performance of low speed mode.
I have never experienced the operation of high speed mode in my daily driving.
Even driving uphill in summer days, only low speed fans turn on @ 95 ºC and bring temperature back to 91 - 92 ºC. I have had no problems with temperature in the past.
But some day I came across a situation which made me worried about my cooling system power.
Some day in summer when outside temperature was very hot (about 41 ºC) i was driving until i reached a road which was very steep uphill. The inclination was so steep that most cars could only drive with 1st or 2nd gears and if they shifted into 3rd, they will lose speed and had to shift down into 2nd again.
I noticed my car's temperature rose to 95 ºC and low speed fans kicked in but the thing that worried me was the fact that the fans kicked in but they couldn't bring the temperature back to 92 ºC as usual and they just managed to keep it @ 95 ºC and didn't let it go higher than that. I continued driving uphill in that road with 2nd gear @ 95 ºC with the fans on in low speed mode until the steepness of the road decreased a bit and then i noticed temp. went back to 92 ºC and fans turned off.
I had never experienced something like that in my driving!
Whenever my fans kicked in they could bring temperature back to 92 and turned off but that day in that road they stayed on for about 5 minutes just to keep temp. from going higher!!
Is my car's behavior considered normal in that situation or should i suspect my cooling system power?
I should also add that my cooling system is always full of high quality coolant and free of air bubbles.
Do you think my cooling system has performed poorly in that particular situation?
Should i replace my radiator, my fans, my hoses and my water pump?
I'm looking forward to your helpful explanations.
