South African 2011 Bridgestone Production Car Championship debutant Tannith Gardner gets a warm welcome from her competitors down in Port Elizabeth at Aldo Scribante this past weekend.

Tannith walked away from the crash and rumour has it that her car isn't a total write-off. A testament to the crash worthiness of what is a production STI with a roll cage welded into it. For the rest of it the monocoque is standard and the front-end in particular holds up well to the impact.

Anthony Taylor in the BMW 335i executes a perfect example of what American cops refer to as "the pit maneuver".

BMW drivers. Pffff... ;)

That's what happens when you have an idiot bringing the field to the green on a rolling start. You can see the BMW behind the Impreza on the inside is already on the brakes early, then Gardner taps on the brakes probably because the leader on the inside decides to back-up the field....and bingo... you've got 3-wide.

But yes, Taylor at complete fault there.

I believe that disciplinary action is being taken against Taylor and he may be banned from the next race in the series.

Eh... slap him with a fine and take away the points he received for that race and call it a day. Don't ban them from a race, that's punishing the sponsors.

Glad to see he's fine! Lucky him, thanks to roll-cage! :)

Moral: Never try to lead a Bimmer. It might cost you your car. And a race!! :D

^ ^ The him is a her ateekt! And yeah, she emerged unharmed. I don't know which driver you're referring to as the idiot in this instance Beemer but Taylor was at fault, has been found guilty and is appealing a stern sentence.

This isn't Formula One, no one's trying to back up the field. This a straight drag race to the first corner and at this level there's always going to some jockeying for track position. Notice how Gardner holds her line, never weaving to cut anyone else off. She was hard done by.
