Looking for evidence that Chrysler is hard at work on a hot-rod version of the flagship 300C? Here’s the smoking gun.
Spy shooters have captured the 300CSRT8 with no camouflage, and details are overwhelming that this is the halo four-door for Chrysler. The test car even has SRT8 badges on the steering wheel and the tachometer.
There also are wheels that look like six-spoke SRT rollers, Brembo brakes and chrome dual exhaust.
Look for the 6.4-liter Hemi V8 in the ChargerSRT8 to be used in the 300 sibling. The Dodge is rated at 465 hp and 465 lb-ft, so look for similar output in the Chrysler. Other carryover features likely will include the elaborate 8.4-inch touch screen in the middle and paddle shifters. Also note the heavily bolstered seats and the leather-wrapped steering wheel. A five-speed automatic will complete the powertrain.
The outside is marked by an angrier front fascia, a mesh grille and athletic rocker panels. The elegant taillight and headlight styles from the regular car are also present.
Chrysler hasn’t announced its New York auto show plans, but we’d be surprised if this hot rod from the Pentastar doesn’t have a spotlight role. And when Dodge boss Ralph Gilles introduced the Charger SRT8 in Chicago, he punctuated the event by planting a kiss on the front fender.
Chrysler honcho Olivier Francois, it’s your move

Really? I still feel that the Americans just can't get their designs right. I feel like they are living in another world when it comes to designing cars.

This car looks...odd IMO.

Noooo.... what is that? Looks completely lazy and lethargic.

The old 300C SRT8 was completely understated and hid the true beast within. It looked very good, but this one... seems like it's caught between being too conservatve and all-out brutal looking (like the Charger SRT8 - awesome!).

Those wheels should stay on the Charger.... give this car its old multi-spoke rims back and put black-plastic within the headlight units, not that gray color.

:(

I agree. It seems like the lights, front bumper, and the rest of the car just do not go together. Reminds me of Mr. Potato, where you could put different features on him. That seems to be the case here. The headlight, the front bumper, and other parts of the car were designed independently and now they are put together to make a car. So, instead of designing it as a whole, they designed it independently.

Agree. I`m not sold on the exterior design. I don`t like the headlights of the new 300, nor do I like the grill. The previous one was better!

I do however like the interior.

The 2016 Chrysler 300 SRT has been spied undisguised in Michigan.

Looking more aggressive than its predecessor, the facelifted model has a new front bumper with a revised grille and additional LED lights. The sporty styling continues out back as there's a trunk-mounted spoiler, a dual exhaust system and updated taillights.

Under the hood, we can expect to find a familiar a 6.4-liter HEMI V8 engine that develops 485 bhp (361 kW) and 475 lb-ft (643 Nm) of torque. It is connected to an eight-speed automatic transmission which sends power to the rear wheels.

While Chrysler brand President and CEO Al Gardner had suggested the 300 SRT could be axed or only sold in overseas markets, sources have suggested it will be offered in the United States as a 2016 model.

Goes on sale next month
Chrysler has announced the updated 300 SRTwill be available on order in Australia starting next month.

The revised model is already featured on the company's official website in Australia and will carry over the HEMI V8 6.4-liter engine but its output is going to increase by 4 bhp (3 kW) and 4 lb-ft (6 Nm) to 469 bhp (350 kW) and 470 lb-ft (637 Nm). The engine will no longer work with the five-speed automatic gearbox as Chrysler will be replacing it with an eight-speed auto transmission. Other changes include the implementation of electric power steering and rotary gear selector borrowed from the lesser versions.

The base SRT Core version will cost $59,000 AUD and is going to come as standard with body-colored mirrors and door handles, rear spoiler, cloth upholstery, launch control, six-speaker audio system, door sill scuff plates, SRT Performance Data logging and a sports steering wheel.

Those who upgrade to the SRT Premium will have to pay $69,000 AUD and will benefit from cruise control with distance control, blind spot monitoring system, electronic damper control, sat-nav, heated front & rear seats, heated & cooled front cup holders, sports pedals and Nappa leather upholstery. This high-end version also gets ventilated front seats, auto-dipping high-beam headlights while a 19-speaker sound system (with subwoofer), puddle lights, automatic wipers and a heated steering wheel are also part of the package.

Sales of the 2016 Chrysler 300 SRT (AU-spec) will begin in September and it should be mentioned the model is also available in the Middle East with a LHD layout.
