Long before Harris made it on to Top Gear, even before he'd went off and did his own thing on YouTube, in his last days at Autocar and early days at EVO - I felt that he was one of the best motoring journalists around.
The thing is that he was naturally able to make the transition from out-and-out scribe (where helmsmanship isn't immediately apparent) to on-screen presenter.
It's only fitting that he's a presenter on a big name car show now. And, he can still drive way better than the punters on internet forums.

Chris Harris, together with Steve Sutcliffe and Tiff Needell are the best of the best video car presenters in my honest opinion and they all long time journalists, they made Autocar and TopGear famous and really enjoyable reads in the 90's and early 2000's.

Try Christian Menzel and the full 30 min version of Fast Lap. It's on another level.
The big difference is that with the above mentioned and all the youtubers the focus is on the viewer. The tests are heavily scripted in order to achieve more interest, which removes the objectivity. The viewer and his entertainment is king. It's like a movie film-it doesn't have to be based on a true story in order to be interesting.
Fast Lap is a completely different story. One can see that there is no script. It's all about the car. And bar Tiff Needell Menzel is a much better driver than the rest and what is more importand he participates in the development process of many production and also race cars. So he knows what can be improved and where the limits of a certain concept are.
Thanks for this info I will check Fast Lap and see how Christian drives the different cars.

Is that AMuS test track? I can see the cars with good acceleration and power are performing very well. First time you can see C63 S beats M4, and other examples are: Audi R8 vs 911 GT3 RS, 570S vs AMG GT R

This is Mendig airfield. Although Fast Lap is a part of AMuS as far as I remember DeDe explained in the past that they make their tests on a different airfield, the name of which I don't remember.
