BMW shouldn't have gone through the trouble of sending the GTS to this comparison.

The M4 GTS is not up to the mark when compared to the AMG GT R and 911 GT3 RS which are sublime racing cars in comparison

M4 is still a 4-series and its based from a 4-serie plattform. The others are pure sportcars from scratch. It's not even a comparison.

BMW M models have not been all that great with the latest reviews. A proper sports car would not do them justice. They had the chance to knock the ball out if the park on the M3 GTS, yet Chris Harris did not like the tuning. (This makes me fear for the 8-M8 series. Good chance it will have that lazy-feel. If the next SL goes full on AMG it will give the 8 plenty of troubles.)

When BMW's marketing department came up with the GTS nomenclature, I reckon the powerpoint presentation must have been along the lines of:

GTS - guaranteed to sell

• Double the price
• Insert Frozen paint job
• Limit production
• Publish blog - XX GTS sold out in 20 minutes
• Profit?? Yes, the shareholders love that

The BMW M4 GTS is the ideal car for its target market - car collectors that love buying 'limited edition' cars, parking them off and flaunting them on Instagram. Really hope the marketing department doesn't fcuk up the CSL brand.

GTS - guaranteed to sell

That made me almost want to click the funny button..

• Insert Frozen paint job

Only 1 of the 4 colours was Frozen on the M4 GTS, and the M3 GTS was only Fire Orange (I think).. just sayin'

Really hope the marketing department doesn't fcuk up the CSL brand.

From what's been said so far, the marketing department has simply decided to rename the Guaranteed To Sell brand to the Collectors Should Love brand. When Van Meel described what the CSL was going to be, he described a GTS.
