hello from australia! i have been a proud owner of a 2004 c180k - i have enjoyed driving this car for sometime now - and now it is near christmas time when im buying presents for my kids and new baby - money is a little tight - and my car has just decided to get into christmas mode and is now turning off and all caution lights, radio, windscreen wipers, interior lights, battery alternator light, SRS, ESP, park brake, light sensor and anything it possibly can. how do you think i feel? it seems that others have had some similar problems - is this as simple as having the onboard engine management system rebooted? it feels like it has a virus. can someone from mb technical team please just tell me what is wrong? not jargon - just truthful answers. please help me and the safety of my family. cheers

ESP and other bits!

Thankyou Wolfgang.
i have tried the reset to factory settings - but to no avail. it does say it could be a problem with the alternator not charging properly - which has good merit as the car is sluggish to start and i did put a new battery in about 8 weeks ago and as i have only been driving for 100k straight runs (no stopping) the battery seems to have been holding up to the task and maybe with some charging going on as well.
do you agree this could be an alternator problem or am i just being the optimist and hoping its not computer based?
i do look forward to your reply!

Sounds like that to me. If you have a voltmeter you can check the battery voltage while off and while running. If voltage is ok, that doesn't mean there isn't some other charging issue (amps).
