I just realized I never posted about my "new" car here in GCF.
It's a 2002 Volvo S40 T4. It has all the goodies, from xenons to heated seats and sunroof. I think it's a Phase 1.5, which would mean it's got all the Phase 2 goodies and handsome looks, with the stout Phase 1 1850 cc engine block. Supposedly, it's a desirable car. 5MT Phase 1.5 T4. Nobody seems to give a rat's ass about it tho, at least not in Mexico haha
I paid $43,000.00 Mexican pesos on September 25 I believe, which is (with today's rates) around €1911,00. They usually sell for a bit more in better shape but Volvos lose their value like crazy here, while German premium cars hold their value better, go figure... I still feel ripped off, maybe it's buyer's remorse. It's like fifty shades of silver, it needs a PCV overhaul, it tries to stall in when cold and the suspension is shot. Pretty much everything maintenance related has been, well... not maintained.
I already redid the brakes (except rear pads) and fuel filter. Fresh oil too.
Other than a worn driver's seat, interior is actually in very good shape. The body seems straight even though it was poorly repaired at some point from what seems like a minor side collision of some sort. Seller said it was never in an accident... right. There are dents everywhere but nothing serious. It needs a new xenon bulb. Other than the A/C, everything works, even the CD and tape deck. I hardwired an AUX input into the tape deck and it sounds good, CD quality.
I will constantly update my car's condition, probably even with some videos for ya'll to watch and keep record for myself.
The car is very shitty and sketchy, as you can tell, but I bought it only because it is a manual. In Mexico, premium cars are seldom offered with manual transmissions, especially nowadays. BMW was one of the last to offer it in loaded cars and they took the option away with the LCI F30, thanks to nobody buying them. Now only base A3's and 1er's have manuals.
Anyway, the car is a unicorn here and the gearbox and related manual goodies are probably worth as much as the car in the US
Now, some pictures.
It fell...
So I removed it.
Then I fixed it... I've seen too much Roadkill
And all for this
Hope you like it.
