Z Series BMW Z10 = mid engined?

The BMW Z models are a line of roadsters manufactured by German automaker BMW. The Z stands for Zukunft (German for future), and has been produced in four different series with six generations consisting of roadster, coupé, sports car, and concept variants. The introduction of the M Coupé and M Roadster in the Z3 line marked the first of the Z series to have a high-performance BMW M variant. The first generation Z4 also continued to offer M Coupé and M Roadster variants. The current Z4 (G29) uses BMW's (B58B30) inline-six, its platform is the basis for the current Toyota Supra.
It will be quite interesting if the time-line holds true.
The engine proposition is quite interesting as well.

Expect no mid-engined, or rear-engined cars from BMW!

There will be new front-engined rear-driven Z8 hard-top roadster.

There is an idea to offer Z8 with V8 M engine, and V10 M engine only. While some even suggest to name V8 version a Z8, and a V10 version a Z10.

Some directors are going even further: supporting a super-sporty 2-seater big coupe version - based on Z8 platform, with some design differences - and fixed hard top only. Name proposal: Z10.

BMW are also just about to decide about new 8er / 9er. It is purposed be a luxury 4dr coupe - competing with top-end models Porsche Panamera, Bentley models, AM Rapide.

So, 8er / 9er: top luxury model in BMW line, Z8 / Z10 top-performance model in BMW product portfolio.

RR will come with new baby-line: Camargue / Silver Wraith (coupe), Silver Seraph (limo) & Corniche (cabrio) in the same time. Yet RR models will be positioned way above Z8/Z10 & 8er/9er, and only slightly below Phantom familiy. Mind that Phantom Coupe is also coming within a year / year-and-a-half (note 101EX) - Detroit 2008 premiere?

And do not forget: 102EX concept car is to make its debut this year (Frankfurt?) - showcasing upcoming Silver Seraph baby RR.

Like you mentioned in another post, there seems to be a flurry of activities in BMW with regards to new products- that is really good.

Yes, a lot of buzz is going on in Munich. Despite almost all automotive press is focused on Audi model expansion, BMW are definitely not standing still.

A lot of goodies coming in the next years.

This expansion will be even more prominent.
In previous expansion action BMW launched 4 models: 1er 5dr, 6er coupe, 6er cabrio & X3. While this time even more models are coming: 1er 3dr, 1er coupe, 1er cabrio, X6 SAC, F5 SportsTourer. The next one will probably consist of Z8/Z10, F3, X4, Z2 & perhaps 8er/9er.

i hope they decide to make the car i have been waiting since what has seemed like forever just to heard yes or no
i hope they aim it toward the Gallardo and F430 area at least
to show Ferrari and Lambo that BMW can play there game too

Welcome to the fold, BMWF1360. I agree with you. Even though its moderately unlikely, BMW ought to make a car that competes in this segment-for my sake at least :).

No mid-engine BMW car in plan.

But an ultra-performance coupe with front-engine / rear-drive - ala SLR / Corvette / AM is being seriously considered.
