BMW Vision Alpina

The still photo and the video are both shot from such an angle that the height of the vehicle is obscured. I hope that's not an indicator of anything... 8 series Dakar, or whatever that hideous Lambo is (edit: Sterrato)

I can see that the car in the image has similar dtrl and tail light graphics to the 7 LCI.

Again, what we'll see in a few days, is a Vision model.

Vision Efficient Dynamics
Vision Connected Drive
Vision Future Luxury
Vision NEXT100
Vision Dynamics
Vision iNEXT
Vision M NEXT
Vision Circular
Vision Dee
Vision Neue Klasse
Vision Neue Klasse X
Vision Driving Experience

How many of those showed what customers could buy inside and out?

The difference between a '6' and '8' model for me is that a '6' isn't supposed to be a Halo model (it's a coupe version of a 5, like the 4 is to the 3), where as an '8' should be... Z8, i8 etc. (edit: E24 M635CSi was second fiddle to the M1, not an '8' model by name, but perhaps in principle. Original E31 M8 would have been a unicorn, even in it's own time).

Aftermarket support is defined by the number of cars on the road multiplied by the wallet size of those of those owners, if there's more owners, there's more incentive to offer aftermarket stuff, if they're wealthy the aftermarket options can be more outlandish... to me this isn't anything to do with halo-status.

Again, just my two cents but Brabus Bodo and more relevantly the Bovensiepen Zagato show that with the impending doom of the EV era, bespoke models are the way to show what you can do.

G-Class is Jim Jones for Mercedes fans, it's not a realistic benchmark for anything.
Well, TBH, the series iX3 is fairly close to the Vision Neue Klasse X. It even looks better than the concept car. Same for the Vision iNEXT. So some Vision showcars have reached serial production.

Now, the Vision BMW ALPINA has a nice, but rather intriguing silhouette. Not the traditional BMW signature 2-door shape. It sends me some AMG GT vibes, which is not a bad thing, but hopefully, the similarities won’t be that dramatic in the end for the sake of typical brand individuality.

What a lovely Sunday morning to wake up to this! A concept for a new BMW coupe!!.
@Design FIRST I don't know what your secret sources are, but you were right when you predicted it would be some kind of coupe concept.
@Centurion , the M8/M6 sell very well until at least the third year and act tremendously as a halo for that time; they're on everyone's lips and are always a memorable launch.
@Matski , don't burst the bubble of hope so soon. Let us dream for a few days that they will do it. BMW has been clearly showing this lately by bringing the Vision X (iX3), Skytop, and Speedtop to production "without modification." Things have changed a bit.

I'm just pointing out what people seem to forget, I'm tired of reading the self inflicted disappointment of people that should know better.

I said it at the time, they had to do it, and I think it's the right strategy. Such an important brand launch deserved a concept car. Whether or not it goes into production will determine the path Alpina takes in the coming years as a trim brand, perhaps following in the footsteps of Maybach, and also producing bespoke models, as I think we all want.

The brands and the industry are much more mature than when Maybach did something similar with the Concept 6 and left everyone wanting more. If BMW launches this, those of us who have been wanting Maybach to take the plunge for so long will be overjoyed because they'll surely emulate it.

Well, we haven't even seen it yet, but everything indicates it will be worth it.

Self-flagellation is an integral part of the forum, lol.

But you'll agree there's a certain degree of hope, given what the brand has done in the last two or three years. If people demand it, they'll manufacture it.

Thank you @Esp5

But I can ensure you that I am not privy to any "secret sources" situated in the automotive industry. I'm nothing more than a pensioner who has the time and liberties in order to research topics that have been life-long hobbies, or, in general, occupy and entertain my mind. Automobiles are one of them, as are geopolitics, philosophy, occasionally assisting in local communal affairs and health/dietary topics. And, of course, my wife. I've now got that precious time that was so desperately missing when I was a professional.

Gran Coupe body style ? ICE or BEV ?

Whatever...truly exciting.
I think it’s going to be absolutely stunning, they said the project is believed to involve designer Max Missoni and former Rolls-Royce Coachbuild designer Alex Innes.
This year the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este It's going to be absolutely brilliant, this the Brabus Bodo, The Kimera K-39.
I can't wait!

Let the hype begin:

“We’ve heard from people who’ve seen the actual car that it is, without exaggeration, one of the more beautiful things BMW has shown in years. That’s a genuinely high bar to clear at Villa d’Este, where the competition is literally a century of automotive history lined up around a lake”

Is this people said the same about ix3? Hope not.
