Z Series BMW To Move Z4 Production To Europe

The BMW Z models are a line of roadsters manufactured by German automaker BMW. The Z stands for Zukunft (German for future), and has been produced in four different series with six generations consisting of roadster, coupé, sports car, and concept variants. The introduction of the M Coupé and M Roadster in the Z3 line marked the first of the Z series to have a high-performance BMW M variant. The first generation Z4 also continued to offer M Coupé and M Roadster variants. The current Z4 (G29) uses BMW's (B58B30) inline-six, its platform is the basis for the current Toyota Supra.
Seems logical to move it to EU and Spartanburg to remain only for X3, X5 & X6 models and we know there will be more of them (unfortunately) in the future...

This also hints at the likely upmarket push of the next generation model I think. There are going to a lot of changes. BMW also doesn't want to risk the quality of the next car due to the folding hardtop, IMO.

don´t know how old this article, but as talked last week in other thread to EnI, BMW confirmed Z4 E89 move to Rgb plant.

Exactly.

Mainly due to hardtop folding roof supplied by Edscha (like in E93 case - which is also made in Rgb plant).

In addition X3 production is moving to US plant in Spartanburg, while Magna Steyr Graz is in talk with BMW to get either MINI xOver, or X1 production.

what i have heard the decision has already been taken which car is going to be built @magna steyr - but i guess for an official announcment its going to take a few more years

My best guess would be X1 in Austria.
