In year 2007 BMW sold 320,900 cars with xDrive, more than 4,500 cars ahead of the nearest competitor in the AWD segment (Audi).

Largest xDrive markets:
USA more than 40% of all BMW sold with xDrive
Switzerland 34,5% of all BMW sold with xDrive
Austria 10,6% of all BMW sold with xDrive
Germany 3,3% of all BMW sold with xDrive

Yeah, I can understand that.

The driving of a Beemer is so scary that you run for an xDrive at the first rain...:D

I'm sorry...couldn't resist...:icon_redf

Who would have thought? :D

Just when you thought Audi had momentum going, BMW outsells them at their own game. And that's without the X6.

All jokes aside, I do see tons of 328Xi's around here though, they are extremely popular.

The amount of x-drive sales could be much higher in Europe if AWD would be available on the 320d. Maybe something for the facelift in September?

Well that's weird for BMW to outsell Audi in that dept.

Not at all.

Mind that 250,000 units per year come from X5 & X3 only - which have AWD standard. Add 3er & 5er models ... Bingo!

:usa7uh:

Yet when Q5 comes (and A4 sales to kick in; very popular Avant is still to come!) Audi will be #1 again. Until X1 & 7er xDrive are introduced. ;) But only till Q3 comes. :D

As said before: Mk2 1er will as well be able to feature xDrive. New 7er as well. And BMW are considering to offer xDrive on 6er as well.

So the only models without AWD option will be the Z models (Z4, Z2, Z8).

I'm not the least surprised.

And it's about time BMW smartened up about putting it in most of the line up.

When the E92 came, after a months or so, all allocations for the first year were sold out in the iX variants.

This is quite impressive!

I don't know about other markets, but in the UK, BMW don't offer xdrive on models, well apart from the X models of course, and yet Audi offer Quattro on all models!

I would have thought this. I wouldn't mind a 335Xi coupe myself.

No wonder the CL and CLK are getting 4Matic. Poor Audi I remember when they had this all to themselves. BMW had no AWD vehicles and Mercedes 4Matics were as rare as hens teeth.

It's simple , Audi has one SUV while BMW has two.

Q5 is expected to sell around 100k units each year.

Doesnt matter what the excuses are. BMW are selling more AWD cars than Audi. I know its hard to swallow but its a fact.

What is shocking to me is that must mean Audi sells a whole lot of FWD cars! We don't get many in the U.S. Only the A4 and A6 can be had with just FWD.
